Discussion for article #227478
This is not good news for this seat. We’ve lost a very reliable liberal voice for an unknown entity. And he’ll be going up against Tisei, who did very well (although he lost) when he ran against Tierney in 2010. I’m not optimistic that the Dems can keep this seat.
I’m not (that) worried. The fact that Tierney lost says more about Tierney than it does about Moulton – or about Tisei, who Tierney barely beat two years ago. All Moulton’s got to do is show how inflammatory Tisei is, and he’s in. It’ll be close, but he can win.
You’d think that Massachusetts voter would realize after Scott Brown that you can’t afford to elect Republicans to enable other Republicans.
Is the Iraq war vet part supposed to be a plus or a minus? What did he do there, what’s his record? Just saying vet doesn’t really mean much.
And come on Massachusetts, no more Scott Browns.
I live in this district. Tierney has been a good rep who was harmed by his wife’s family scandal.
The comparisons to Scott Brown are on point, I believe. Moulton only registered as a Democrat one year ago, and many see him as an opportunist who was looking for a vulnerable incumbent to run against. He ran a very negative campaign, consisting mainly of highlighting his status as a vet and attacking Tierney. Elizabeth Warren supported Tierney in this race, while Moulton has the support of the likes of David Gergen, General Petraeus, Stanley McChrystal, and a Republican PAC associated with Judd Gregg of NH. I’m concerned that we’re losing a good liberal in exchange for a DINO, but I’ll concede that Moulton may be able to beat Tisei while Tierney was far from a sure thing there.
This and the article on the New Hampshire Senate primary were largely fact free. How can you publish an election article and never mention how many votes or the percentage of the vote for the key candidates?
I’m more optimistic that we can keep the seat with Moulton than Tierney.
Tierney is damaged goods. He just barely squeaked by in 2012, and that was a Presidential election year, vastly underperforming the other Democratic nominees. This time, it’s going to be a mid-term electorate.
I’m glad we didn’t nominate a candidate with an anchor hanging around his neck.
Change gonna come…and this final primary was a doozy.
My little nutty, Texas billionaire-funded KY4th teabagger’s been acting so moderate of late one might incorrectly imagine he faces an opponent with a webpage or any press whatsoever.
Just like Obi-Wan saved Alderaan.
I am detecting blatant sock-puppetry.
He is correct; the Dems have been all to willing to let the Repubs drive the agenda, and not put forward, in any meaningful way, an agenda of it’s own.
Aw well we will wait until it is safe; right?
I have a very highly developed crap detector------and your comments are making it ring every bell.
Firedoglake is calling. Please leave and take your bullshit somewhere else
Yeah and he has about as much chance as I do winning any presidency
