Discussion: Iran Lands Coalition Plane Coming From US Base In Afghanistan

Discussion for article #227322

This is not good. Nor does it bode well for us. Ya think they’ll let bygones be bygones???

Reports from U.S. officials are the issue is pretty much resolved and the plane should take off soon. They filed a flight plan over Iranian airspace and then took off late, so technically the flight plan wasn’t kosher and the Iranians asked them to turn around. They didn’t have enough fuel to return to Bagram, so they landed in Iran. It wasn’t like the Iranians forced them down. Things aren’t like they were in '79 but I’ll be glad when the plane leaves.

President Obama better get tough very quick or everyone in the world will soon take potshots at us. This is just the beginning.

And, contrary to the headline, it wasn’t a military plane flown by coalition forces. It was a charter plane owned and flown by Fly Dubai. Probably taking troops to R&R in Dubai

CNN is reporting its a contractor’s plane. Not military. But there are 100 American citizens on board. You’d think this would be a bigger story than the single engine plane that went down today as breaking news that has been on all day. But CNN is reporting they want to get this situation in Iran resolved quietly and quickly because according to Barbara Starr, “the administration doesn’t want to have to deal with yet another crisis abroad”. As if its Obama’s fault some American contractor doesn’t know enough to stay out of fucking Iranian airspace. Good lord…why I can barely watch CNN either these days. Always with the added unwarranted commentary.

Could this be a case of the enemy of my enemy is my friend? Interesting
how both Iran and the US deny that they will work together to overcome the IS, and now this happens, Coincidence?

Oh for fuck’s sake. What do you mean by get tough? Start carpet bombing everything in sight?

Fly Dubai?

Is this a sub-contractor of Halliburton?

Do they have a clue as to how to use GPS?

Ya know, I was gonna make some crack about this, that it was the natural fallout from Benghazi- you know, a parody of the deranged right- but I see you beat me to it.

It is probably a Company plane, like Flying Tiger of old. CIA.

it seems much more likely that iran will help fight ISIS than KSA will stop supporting ISIS.

Have seen nor heard any updates, but sure know what is on Fox News today. @Doremus_Jessup sorry for complaining but thought there might be additional information.

I’ll be glad when it’s a planeload of State Department officials landing in Iran to re-establish normal relations.

BBC reporting that the plane was filled with fuel and has flown on to Dubai. No one removed from plane, no one questioned.

Airline Fuck Up. Didn’t notify Iran when plane left Afghanistan late. Missed their preapproved “fly-over” time.

Oh who knows… wink wink

Intermountain Airlines (later Evergreen Aviation), Air America and Continental Air Services. were other “company fronts” and operated out of Pinal County Airport in Marana north of Tucson.

I don’t have a lot more regard for CNN than for their apparent mentor station, FOX.

This another example of US press exaggerations of events because of their laziness to seek the truth before rushing to report them. US press will do anything to get viewership, what a shame…
