Discussion for article #236322
Sure, they want to get him laid so they can screw the rest of us.
I kind of love that he taped it. And dang nabbit, this guy is a hoot.
ETA: I read quotes of his elsewhere, they really are awesome.
Well, seems like these companies will do anything to make a buck except, you know, be honest.
Hughie Tweedy? And he turned down the offer three times? I’m guessing he wasn’t 32 and divorced. Probably got wise when they told him she was also a virgin.
"was advised by his attorney not to share them with the media, according to the station. "
Nice to see some of us still have fucking brains in our heads and the ethics to steer them.
How much do we want to bet that the same people who are ready to canonize Cliven Bundy support the gov’t using the power of eminent domain to plow the oil pipeline through this man’s land? I’m guessing the folks over at Faux are already yammering about this offer of a teenage whore all being a lie and nothing but slanderous liberal gossip.
Well, pipelines are all about jobs, jobs, jobs dontcha know?
This farmer seems hellbent on keeping teenage unemployment high.
From a story about this at Wonkette:
“If an old junkyard dog like me was offered the sexual services of little girls to get my hackles down, I wonder what was offered to the powerbrokers of this state to gain their support for silence,” Tweedy said. “Shame, shame, shame.”
I’m glad he has a lawyer that seems to have interest at heart, too.
“Tweedy reportedly recorded two of the conversations but was advised by his attorney not to share them with the media, according to the station”
Honest question: Is that good advice?
Yes. Keep your powder dry. Don’t give your opposition the opportunity to start trying to apply their own spin to it.
As yes— those free market solutions.
" A landowner in Montrose, Iowa accused an oil pipeline company of offering him the services of a “$1,200 teenage prostitute” "
Yeah…but can she suck the chrome off a pipe?
For all the uproar about the TPP giving multinational corporations legal authority that supersedes US law why is there nothing being said, or very little, about Transcanada taking ranchers and farmers land via eminent domain in Nebraska? Not many overly horny ranchers out there either it appears. One would think that the tea baggers would be all over an issue like foreign corps taking American citizens land but when it benefits the Brothers Koch it’s all quiet on the Western front.
TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS! This is why the United States needs to invest in alternate prostitute sources, so we can reduce or eliminate our reliance on oil company teenage prostitutes. Opening up the Strategic Prostitute Reserve could help lower the price for consumers as well.
Absolutely. Spot. On.
I was about to comment that this is exactly the larger story here.
This is one guy who turned them down, got evidence of it, and went public. How many others out there took whatever was offered, or bargained for something bigger?
First off, this company and its representatives have ready access to teen prostitutes. Not entirely surprising, but I should hope the Feds jump on this and trace that path in human sex trafficking of children to its source, and burn everyone on that path with radioactive napalm, then pour those ashes into a capsule and launch it into the Sun.
The other aspect of this is: why offer teen prostitutes?
Answer: entrapment. Once you have evidence of someone fucking a child as part of a transaction, you own that person. Forever. You can make them agree to and do and say anything that you want or need them to… Forever.
How many other people took the offer, and now have no choice but to be a corporate oil puppet?
Everyone who supports Keystone should be suspect of and investigated thoroughly for having indulged in such activities. This includes Canada, too. This isn’t one local, isolated incident. This is across multiple state borders and across international borders.
By what bizarre theory of economics is a prostitute worth so much, and a piece of land worth so little? It sounds like a good argument for the progressive income tax, either way.
Bless his stout, forthright Iowa heart. Salt of the earth.
Would this be the type of thing the DOJ would investigate? If so, go, go, go, Loretta Lynch!
But Tweedy STILL votes a STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN TICKET when he votes because: FREEDUMB (and there is a “Ni(CLANG!) in the White House!”)
Trust me. I grew up with these people…
he was wise to decline the offer. given the oil industry’s credibility record, the proposed teenage prostitute visit would turn out to be a BJ from a middle aged male lobbyist.
