No, no, Gov. Branstad - it’s the Democrats that were up to dirty tricks. Just ask the Des Moines Register, man, they’ll tells ya.

“Distributing information that was not true about a candidate right at the time people are voting in the caucuses is an inappropriate thing.”

Republicans know you wait until someone is President before you start telling lies about them…

man, i’ve never seen a politician so reviled by his own party – and that is working so publicly to take him down. and to call out one of your own for dirty tricks…
also, since the iowa gop is so heavily owned by the extreme religious right that i don’t think exists in other states, that presumably’ is going to be his only ‘win’.

No way, Dontcha know that Iowa was the launching pad for Presidents Santorum and Huckabee?!

I like Branstad’s Vito Corleone look here – the long-time head of the Iowa Family.

Holy G. Gordon Liddy, this is worse than the Nixon Plumbers and Watergate, the whisper campaign against Ann Richards in Texas, Willie Horton, Phone jamming in New Hampshire, the swift boating of John Kerry, the Brooks Brothers riot, Bill Casey’s theft of Pres. Carter’s debate notes and Nixon’s sabotage of the Paris peace talks all rolled into one. Why I’m shocked. Democrats are one thing, but to Play a dirty trick on a fellow Republican, unforgivable.

"We have a strong sense of fairness in Iowa,” Branstad added.

Then how do you account for Steve King being a Representative from your state?

Fair and Unbalanced.

I know this is ‘radical’ but IOWA is over. Spend your time on fixing the bogus failed system and try again in 4 years.

Why isn’t the Des Moines Register calling for an investigation of the Cruz campaign over this?
Oh, I forgot. The Des Moines Register is a loyal Republican tool (and always has been.)

No, it’s not an “inappropriate thing” it’s a “Repbublican thing.”

both of those men actually won other state primaries before dropping out. my point was cruz is so despised even his own party is actively working against him; and his only natural constituency are the apocalyptic evangelical types who dominate iowa’s gop. presumably those two factors are going to drastically limit any future primary wins.

Iowa Gov: Cruz now tells me that he supports Renewable Energy standards, which helps IW. Given his change of heart, I cant see why Cruz’s dirty tricks are illegal. We welcome him in Iowa and hope he becomes next POTUS.

Oh, fuck you, GrandStand. If there were repercussions for “dirty tricks”, the entire Republican Party would be in Leavenworth.

And the reason Bransted didn’t like Cruz in the first place:

Because as a politician from a corn state he wanted the federal government to require ethanol in gasoline to maximize corn profits, while as a politician from an oil state Cruz was against it to maximize oil profits. Whee.
