Gov: We all want small govt; however Iowa is special and it needs all the subsidies it can get from federal govt. I personally thank Liberal states which subsidize us. God bless America.

Actually, Cruz is the strongest supporter of ethanol among the candidates, as we expect to learn at a press conference later this afternoon. Indeed, he is so enthusiastic about ethanol use that he considers it a New York Value.

You now, Iowa has been running the ethanol scam for over 40 years. And we still have next to nothing to show for it.
I think its time that both parties just start ignoring the state entirely. Jimmy Carter made it important because it was ignored until himâŚWe as a nation should return them to the obscurity they deserve.
Because even beyond the ethanol scam, the state has been plundering the pockets of politicians and campaigns ever since Carter. And they donât even try to hide it.

Iâm confused about Eric Branstadâs position on this issue and Cruzâs policy stance on ethanol. Below is an article and quote from Americaâs Renewable Future, the ethanol touting organization of which Eric is the director:
SIOUX CENTERâDuring a bus tour stop in Sioux Center, Iowa last night, Senator Ted Cruz expressed support for the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) through 2022.
Responding to a question from an ethanol investor from Iowa about whether he would allow the landmark energy program to continue through its current expiration in 2022, Sen. Cruz responded by expressing support for the RFS through 2022.
Senator Cruz also expressed passionate support for breaking through the so-called âblendwallâ. âThat blendwall makes it illegal for ethanol to expand its market penetration, and I intend to eliminate the EPA blendwall to get rid of that barrier, which will enable ethanol to expand in the marketplace to a much larger penetration to sell more ethanolâŚ.â

In response to Sen. Cruzâs statements, ARF state director Eric Branstad said:
Farmers and rural communities across Iowa are going to be encouraged by Sen. Cruzâs remarks. He is clearly listening to the people of Iowa and understands the importance of the Renewable Fuel Standard to Americaâs economy and energy independence, as he started the caucus process calling for immediate repeal. While not perfect, this is a big step forward by Sen. Cruz.

This entry is dated 1-6-16. Eric Branstad doesn't sound all that disillusioned or disappointed in Cruz's ethanol stance. Gov. Branstad portrays Cruz's position on the matter far differently than the organization his son heads. What gives?

what do you suppose New Yorkers with THOSE values do with Iowa corncobs in those booths?
Even though Branstad is popular, I canât figure out if this kind of anti-endorsement from an establishment figure actually hurts Cruz or helps him.

A guy who would react the way Cruz did after the Iran- U.S Naval Personnel incidentâŚâdamagingâ is too mild a word. And not just for Iowa.
Of course wise people might look to transition to crops that are not as water, pesticide and herbicide intensive as corn, but this is Iowa and the GOP. Donât expect them to change without being forced to change.
