Discussion for article #225646
Ernst seems to think that Iowa is South Carolina or Mississippi. She also needs a crash course in Constitutional law.
And down the rabbit hole she goes. . . . grinning and nodding as she clutches the “states rights” blankie just before she hits absolute bottom.
Is it possible to de-certify a candidate due to their staggeringly arrogant ignorance of the OFFICE THEY ARE RUNNING FOR and its DUTIES?
(probably not. After all, we did have Sarah Palin for V.P.)
States CANNOT NULLIFY FEDERAL LAW!!! That whole issue was settled in 1865. Even though it has ALWAYS been a part of the US Constitution: Article 6, Clause 2. RE: FEDERAL SUPREMACY.
Joni Ernst shouldn’t be as stupid as she while running for the Senate but there it is.
And here I thought no female politician would ever give Sarah a run for her money.
well duh …
When will the GOP actually STFU and use their time to actually read the Constitution and the Supreme Court judgments (those made in the days before the current ignoramuses took control of the bench!)
Yeah, all the really bad laws were prone to nullification. You know, like abolition, suffrage, civil rights, social security.
We’d all be a lot happier if the feds had never passed those laws.
Right.
GOP=the lowest, very lowest, common denominator is where they look for candidates.
So do progressive states get to nullify federal law when they want? What about federal expropriation of residents’ money to feed the military machine? What about taking tax revenues from CA, NY, IL, WA, and giving them to states that can’t afford to take care of their own poor because they keep giving tax breaks to the corporations and the rich?
As usual, I doubt that the right-wing loons have thought that far ahead.
Intellectual rot is taking its toll on the Republican party.
As usual, I doubt that the right-wing loons have thought.
Did she miss history class where they covered Lincoln and the GOP being
for the union and the supremacy of national laws over states rights?
Sounds like she is trying to revive the ghosts of Jefferson davis and
john Calhoun.
This guarantees she’ll be hired as a “Constitutional expert” on FOX News.
Low information candidate
Well, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison drafted the Kentucky/Virginia/Iowa Resolutions. Why can’t Palin, Bachmann and Ernst champion them? The lipstick and perfume on that pig.
Seems like the main qualification nowadays to be a Republican is mental retardation.
Kentucky and Virginia fits better.
RCP has Ernst in a statistical tie with Braley. High-information Iowans need to get out the vote and show up.
P.S. Nice to see you back here.
