Discussion: IOC: Russian Athletes Allowed To Compete As Neutrals In 2018 Olympics

The IOC is truly worthless and as much a joke as FIFA.

To compete as neutrals? Does that mean they won’t be allowed to try hard, because, you know, neutrals don’t fight?

I don’t know – FIFA certainly didn’t have the balls to cancel Qatar…

VLADIMIR PUTIN is a GREAT GUY – being treated VERY UNFAIRLY!!! So WRONG to punish the Russians for this FAKE scandal! Everybody knows that CROOKED USA is MUCH, MUCH WORSE!!!

The article is very misleading. The only Russian athletes who will be partially exempted from the ban and allowed to compete as neutrals are those who have been been living under a valid testing regimen (for instance, a Russian citizen who has been living in and tested in Australia, say, for the last two years). Athletes living and training in Russia don’t qualify, since anti-doping there has been (correctly) deemed a corrupt joke. This isn’t too different from what was originally proposed for the Rio games last summer, before the IOC wimped out and left the decision up to individual sport federations (swimming, wrestling, weightlifting etc. etc.), so this is actually quite a heavy sanction. Only a handful of Russians will be potentially eligible

Kremlin propaganda that “the world can’t accept Russia’s sporting prowess, and is resorting to an anti-Russian conspiracy”, in 3…2…1…

Thanks for the clarification. The idea that they’d ban the “team”, but let all the doped up athletes compete made no sense.

Lol, the Qatar World Cup might actually be a high-water mark for world corruption, it’s so over-the-top ridiculous. I think various third-world dictators felt professional embarrassment at how brazen a scam the bidding obviously was.

Not to mention all those dead foreign workers…

Poor, poor, Rodina. Always slandered and maligned by wicked foreigners who conspire against her, hem her in, try to restrain her greatness. Poor, poor Rodina.
