Like western fascists, eastern militants are emboldened and empowered by the rhetoric of Donald Trump and the Republican Party’s right-wing extremists, who are promoting war against 1.5 billion Muslims.
How exactly does this bring peace?
The truth is Republicans don’t know and don’t care, because they only want war — perpetual, expensive war benefiting profitable industries that cannot exist without it, much less be profitable.
To this end, the Republican Party, in collaboration with the conservative movement and with the acquiescence of christian clergy, are positioning Muslims as the new communists.
Trump’s running mate has already been chosen. It’s McCarthyism.
If this truly was the result of a terrorist bombing, it’s curious that no group has claimed responsibility.

Doesn’t matter what the accident investigation shows. In Trumpworld, it’s already a fact and is thus immutable.
Not to make light of a terrible tragedy and it is actually less scary for a bad flyer like me if it is terrorism because mechanical issues scare me more…I really hope this was a freak mechanical fire and not a bomb to show Trump up as the hair-trigger menace that he is.

I’ve been flying since I was a small child. I have never had a fear of flying although I have been nervous about some landings. I’m pretty nervous about flying now. I think mechanical failures on planes that cause crashes by major airlines are still pretty rare but now I have to add “fear of mentally ill pilots” to the list of fears, hopefully also rare. What is disturbing about this tragic plane wreck is that everything seems to have happened in or next to the cockpit which should be locked for international flights.
I really hope that the investigation finally shows it to be a mechanical failure or human error. I also hope that Drumpf directly names a terrorist group as being responsible. I want the whole “bad judgement” albatross hung around his neck for the next six months.
Not that it will matter one whit to the morons (Hello, Jeb!) that vote for him.

It’s happened enough times sans terrorism that it comes down to:
- Shit happens.
- Airbus better hope it isn’t a design flaw.
The A320 came into service in 1988, and over 7000 have been produced (this includes all variants – like the 737 there are several). The Egyptair flight was an A320-200 series aircraft, the most widely produced variant.
It could be a design flaw, but it would be unusual for a design flaw to not appear until 28 years after the aircraft type’s introduction. But the real bottom line is that we don’t know what happened right now, and until the FDR and CVR are recovered we won’t know.
