Being a big gambler may just mean he was good at counting.
Or maybe he was involved in money laundering ?
I recently read Ed Thorp’s memoirs, they are interesting.
Yeah, I starting to think something more was going on since he supposedly was making money on non countable card games. Josh points out there’s a lot of strange things that don’t seem to match up with just counting. Wonder if he had some inside help?
His girlfriend allegedly worked in a casino < nudge> < nudge>, but really, he seems to have got substantial means, so I prefer to see him as a front for, say, a drug cartel or something.
And he doesn’t seem to have really worked any where very long or for a long time. Wonder if his dad had a big stash somewhere?
