After this week’s major train wreck, Prima Donny sends his thoughts & prayers. It’s too soon to do anything about it.
Safety systems cost money and adversely affect the bottom lines of corporations. The free market don’t need no stinking safety features. From time to time, the tree of commerce must be watered with the blood of innocents.
Does Pruitt have that tattooed on his chest or something?
Ah, so it’s not about Amtrak funding, it’s about CSX profits. That makes things much simpler.
CSX Corp. has a long history of lax maintenance and malfunctioning or absent safety features. However, whenever Amtrack is involved in an accident on rails owned by CSX, which is most of them, Amtrack, not CSX Corp., is held liable for damages even if the accident is due to CSX’s willful neglect of maintenance and known safety issues. This has been going on for years and years. And the NTSB continues to let them shirk responsibility.
