Discussion: Interior Inspector General Emerges From Email Kerfuffle With Job Intact

The palace intrigue is just pathetic with this bunch.

According to Tufts’ resume (pp. 142 here), she recently described herself as a member of the Federalist Society and the Republican National Lawyers’ Association.

Is Leonard Leo getting a recruiting/finders fee for all these members of the Federalist Society getting jobs in the Trump maladministration? And now I want to know who introduced Trump to Leo, and when did the introduction take place?

“In an October 12 email, Carson sent out a farewell email for Suzanne Tufts, a political appointee working at HUD, saying that she would be replacing Kendall” yet according to a Zinke spokesperson, the kerfuffle is the fault of “the media jumping to conclusions and reporting before all facts are known…” Yes, the media should have considered the fact that Ben Carson is totally incompetent and that anything he might say or write is nonsense.

“This is a classic example of Carson jumping to contusions and bloviating before all facts are known."

It is like a poor attempt at farcical comedy.

Blame “the Media” for Ben Carson’s reporting?

This is totally crazy. Reading between the lines, Zinke and Carson were simply off on their own trying to protect Zinke. The PRESIDENT has the ability under the Vacancy Act to fill in an empty job with another official (and the IG was only “acting” so the job is vacant in a formal sense) who has been confirmed by Congress, but Zinke and Carson don’t have that power. Obviously the two crooks got together and decided to hatch a scheme to put someone friendly into the position. But Carson is too big of a fool to actually execute even his small part of the conspiracy, and let the cat out of the bag before they got White House sign off… The blowback started immediately and someone in the White House realized what a disaster this was.

This was not a “mistake” or Carson getting out over his skis, it is a cover-up that was stopped midway. This is the type of palace intrigue you would expect from a dying authoritarian regime, not a well functioning democracy.

And P.s. I don’t doubt that Zinke and Carson thought they had Trump onboard, and they probably even talked to him about it, but that is meaningless since he has no idea what was going on, and once his staff made clear how this was blowing up, no way they get a sign off from him.

When do we get to the part of the mixed at birth, the two young lovers, and the blackmail? Who’ll write the songs?

Is Ashcroft still with us?

I hope there’s a “trapped in the closet wearing only underwear” scene.

Barry Manilow has that covered:

(Fun fact: Barry Manilow did not write this song.)

TPM Headline:

Mueller’s Team Has Been Attending Secretive Hearings At DC Courthouse

More Fake News from the Librul Media. If they were secretive then why is it a front page headline?

I really like the way you explained this ‘rationally’ because YEAH I believe ‘somebody’ talked to Trump about this and he said Oh that’s a GREAT idea and then totally forgot about the whole thing.

I bet they thought they got TOTAL approval to do this and thought they were so clever with the announcement idea.

Before I thought Ben Carson was just stupid, now I think he is as corrupt as the next cabinet official.

Does it have to be either/or?

Nah, it does not. But I just never thought he for instance understood about buying the $47K dining room set, that it was ‘against’ the rules. You want arrogant, try a brain surgeon. I can believe somebody else did everything about the whole situation and probably DID inform him but he could not see how it effected him at all so it went in one ear and out the other.

But ‘this’ is about closing down investigations. Ha ha, Zinke wanted to get his wife a ‘job’ as being a ‘hang-around’ person so she could enjoy all the beautiful areas he goes, whether or not she is on the staff.

You know, when I am elected in 2020 and take office in 2021 I am going to proclaim that being a member of the Trump Cabinet is a prima facie case off corruption and institute IG reports on all of them and THEN do things like charge Pruitt with theft of services and the only way out off going to the pokey is to PAY the money back, I don’t care if it’s $3.5M or something. We should get quite the windfall from that. Because they ALL appear to be grifters except for Betsy DeVos who is at least paying her own way except she is TERRIBLE at her job.

DeVos isn’t in it for the money. She’s a true-believer kook and she’s there to try to reshape the education system into a for-profit (-prophet) boondoggle.
