I’d would also like to know if these state insurance commissioners in Republican-led states actually did their jobs and pushed back against proposed steep premium hikes from insurer, or if they instead approved these rate hikes to provide additional fuel for the anti-ACA arguments that the ACA is unsustainable and imploding.
Even insurance commissioners in red states don’t want to deal with the horrific clusterfsck that will be the individual market if these payments are uncertain. They might not care about the people whose lives will be lost, but they for sure care about the overtime required to vet multiple extra sets of paperwork.
