Discussion for article #234715
Thank you Gov. Pence for teeing up yet another battle in the culture wars that the bigoted Right will surely lose! Just when the GOP thought they would no longer need to fight battles around gay rights, the oblivious hard right of Indiana’s Republican Party just dropped a deuce in the middle of 2016 Presidential politics’ punch bowl.
If you look in the dictionary under PENCE, MIKE, the entry will show an overly-ambitious pol who thinks he could be Pres one day - the definition will further refer you to the scene in Blazing Saddles, in which the school marm, referring to Gov. LePetomane, but was really referring to Pence, called him “the biggest asshole in the territory!” Well done, Mel Brooks, 40+ years too soon!
The Indiana state GOP president says that the law will not allow anyone to discriminate against anyone but they are moving ahead anyways. Which doesn’t make a lot of sense, because if it does nothing-then why do it?
This is just basically religious freaks worrying about non-existent discrimination against them so they are throwing the first punch and discriminating against the imaginary discriminators.
Only in religion can this make any sense.
Passing/signing this bill wouldn’t be at all politically expedient for Pence and IN GOPers if this law didn’t appeal to anti-gay, or anti-whatever folks and legalize discrimination.
This law stinks.
This is just the opening salvo, the Gays have yet to have their say in Indiana. Pence and the other religious wackos may regret ever even hearing about this law.
The Gay community is winning for a reason.
