An organization who has spent the past four decades, post 1978 coup chastising the so called elites and pitting regular Americans against each other sure seem to behave like a bunch of entitled, uh elites.
Since NRA is nothing but a vehicle for fleecing gun worshipers, is not surprising that is showing all the corrupt symptoms of a religious cult, all that is missing is a sex scandal with minors involved.
Ironic that Oliver North will go down in the history books as the man who destroyed the NRA.

America has always produced a special quality of conman, but you can’t find much analogous in recent history to this group. Trump is a widely admired conman, with over a third of the country still convinced he is fit to be president, but this is a different species. They naturally prey on visceral fears about races, dick size, property ownership, control, and the ability to project lethality, and thus line up with a passel of GOP themes, but they also are sneaky. Maybe the South’s greatest contribution to grifting, Soapy Smith comes closest to these people. But still we’re looking more at a product range of cleansing products when its comes to the NRA. The Detergent Gang. But then maybe they’ll let somebody (Tom Selleck?) be the hair conditioner guy.

No, it won’t destroy the NRA. It may do a rotor-rooter clean out, but it won’t be destroyed.
The key will be to watch how much influence the NRA has on what’s going on in Virginia. Their fingerprints and their cash (what there is of it) will be all over this.

The NRA has been splintering for at least the last few years. Rank & file NRA members are definitely leaving. They’re refusing to pay membership renewals.
