Not my first choice. Or my second choice. But we could do much worse.
"Speaking before Columbia’s mostly Republican Rotary Club, Mr. Biden reminded his audience of his slave-state heritage and hinted that Delaware’s alliance with the North was merely an accident of geography. Delaware was a “slave state that fought beside the North,” he said. “That’s only because we couldn’t figure out how to get to the South. There were a couple of states in the way.”
–Joe Biden, 2006
We are so done with you, Joe.
Kind of looks like a hail Mary pass in the 4th quarter.
Like McCain , his last best shot.
The only reason he does so well in the polls is he’s been around for half a century
Too Much Baggage
Welcome Joe. Sending you a donation today.
compared to an avowed sexual predator who partnered with Russia and thinks nahzis are cool?
I don’t disagree with you, but I will back whoever is the chosen dem candidate with every fiber of my being.
He opens by quoting the Declaration Independence, backed by a stirring score …
I kept looking for Mister Darcy’s young sister playing the piano in the background.
Me too. Absolutely. Get the orange MFker out of office and prosecute the crap out of him…
Joe, is this what you were trying to say?
America is an idea. Strip freedom, human rights, democracy and the rule of law from what the United States represents to the world and America itself is gutted.” - Roger Cohen
I do like that you shed some more light on Trump’s “fine people on both sides” comment. That needs to be rubbed in his face often.
With Biden’s nomination, that makes…what? 67 candidates.
Checking my calendar… whoa, looks like I’m running too! Better start fundraising!
I do think he could increase his chances by saying it’s a 4 year job; his focus is on getting the country back on solid footing and that he will choose a dream team of young dems (VP, SOS) to learn the ropes. Oh, and he needs to promise to prosecute the phuck out of the nazis who ran the country into the ground.
Joe Biden was a tireless advocate for the drug laws that have led to the criminalization and mass incarceration of 100’s of thousands of black Americans, mostly men. The amount of injustice and misery in the African-American Community that Joe Biden is directly responsible for is unimaginable.
Joe Biden was a zealot for the laws leading to the “New Jim Crow.”
I am of course concerned that, should he get the nomination, the dead-end Berners will go 3rd party or, heaven forfend, Trump. I really don’t like Bernie, but would absolutely vote for him over Trump. I hope they would do the same. And not be complete assholes at the convention.
YEP, I’d vote for him if he was the nominee but I’d be holding my breath as I did so, then a bucket had better be ready as I spew.
Delaware never seceded – not that Biden wanted to remind his South Carolina audience.
And the line in bold is not only historically inaccurate, it is the worst sort of pandering.
From the same article:
Of course, no one seriously thinks that Mr. Biden was touting slavery. More likely he was trying to say something friendly to his audience, as in: “I may be from a state north of here, but I love South Carolina, and I’ll say any fool thing to get your vote.”
I’m not a fan of the writer but this mock-paraphrase seems accurate enough to me.
Still:
Biden has already staked out a different tactic than most of his now-competitors on the Democratic side
If Biden is more willing than the others to immediately take the fight to Trump, then so much the better.
If Joe has baggage then Trump has a 20 piece fake Louis Vuitton luggage set.
I think he might privately think of it as a one term and out gig, but to announce that now would instantly make him a lame duck. Giving the bench some real experience in cabinet posts is a great idea, Swalwell, Himes, etc. Harris for AG or VP, Buttigieg for SOS or Defense or VP…sounds like a solid foundation on which to rebuild the ruins of our country.
Love the ad. Love Joe. Have for a long time. Do worry about his age and the white guy thing. But, I welcome what he has to say, and know he will bring good things in the debates to come. I’m still sort of a Harris woman myself for the moment, but generally undecided. If nothing else, Joe will bring some cohesion to the Dem message and confidence he will support whomever the nominee will be if it’s not him.
Bring it on Joe!
Also, his announcement today takes trump off the main stage for the next two days while we wait for congress to return, so thanks for that Joe!
Okay, but are you likeable?
But, are you the kind of person I would enjoy drinking beer with? How do you feel about old people in diners?
