Discussion: In Retrospect, Trump Says He Could Have Used 'Softer Tone' In Past 2 Years

his remark is, of course, total BS; wanting to have his slime and eat it too.

So what’s stopping him now?

He could have, but he didn’t and he won’t in the future either. Man the bit of his talk I heard last night made me think that this is probably what Hitler sounded like and spoke of.

No, I don’t think this racist is capable of toning down his rhetoric. Besides stealing people’s hard-earned money, racism is the only thing Trump does well. But I appreciate his sentiments.

The Rump is a compulsive liar, who makes up whatever it takes to sound good to himself, as he goes. Democrats need to win first, legislate second, and investigate a distant third. Rump is just the man who could sign a good law, then go on stage, deny that he signed it, promise to repeal it, and 3/8 of the country would believe the prick.

No, President Marketing Clown. The content is just as hateful, ignorant, and vulgar as the delivery. You’re getting worse, not better, more and more just a nasty, ill-bred child. And this tone stuff is what you say to ABC but guess what, you lunatic, we can also hear you when you have a different audience. You’re not fooling anyone with that, pal. You’ve been this way 72 years and your brain is clearly deteriorating. Don’t suggest your tone might improve. Just keeping doing you, Two Scoops.

ETA: Here you are, you superannuated wiseass punk. Here you are talking like no public figure ever sunk to in a long American tradition of trying to pretend we weren’t ignorant backwoods savages. Here you are in a place where Jefferson and Lincoln, FDR and JFK bantered with the audience or spoke seriously about serious matters. Here you are following Barack Obama, one of the greatest speakers in our history. Here you are, you small-minded, vulgar, hateful little person. Here you are:

The thing I think that would have been the most helpful was duct tape over his trap, every day, all day.

It’s not his TONE. It’s that he holds NO American values.

Democrats need to start asking ‘Why does Trump hate America?’

No, you have to wait for Infrastructure week

Somebody’s realized the House might flip.

If Trump loses the House he’ll be slathering praise on Pelosi, et al, in an attempt to mend fences and convince people he’s ready to approach governing in a bipartisan fashion. He’ll have no choice but to do it. It’ll drive his base crazy. And it’ll be temporary, he’ll be unable to contain his retrograde assholery. Plus Miller, Bannon, Hannity, and others will be imploring him to forsake compromise and just keep fighting dirty in the trenches. Once Trump discovers playing nice doesn’t stop the subpoenas, investigations, indictments and scuttled legislation he’ll revert to form. It’ll be an interesting couple years.

Just voted in my new district here in eastern Virginia. The polling place was located about 5 miles from the town center, no signs pointing to it for us newbies, but lots of people there at 8 a.m.
Did some canvassing yesterday with 2 long time area residents. The Dems were incredibly active in this rural part of the 2nd District. Hoping to oust Scott Taylor with a more honest Elaine Luria for the House.

He could have not been a douche, too, but alas…

There was a great deal of ink spilled criticizing Hilary for calling half of Trump’s voters deplorables rather than the economically insecure people they really are. However, when Trump wants to bring out his base is he arguing what a great economy it is and how they are making more money now with his tax cuts for the “middle class”? No, he is going straight for the racist fears in them. It’s like Gillam said, they may not be racists but Trump truly believes they are.
