Discussion: In Post Mortem With GOP, Mitchell Said As A Prosecutor She Wouldn't Charge Kavanaugh

Which is not the same as "He didn’t do it’, it starts from "he did it, but we can’t prove it* …

This is a republican talking point pure and simple and should have been reported as such. Easy for her to say without having questioned Mark Judge or any other witnesses, and without questioning Kavanaugh at all - she was in fact relieved from duty after asking about his July 1 calendar entry. This hearing is not going to age well.

What a surprise, she arrived to the conclusion she was paid to arrive.

Mitchell was hired to do one thing and that was not look for the truth. She knew she blew the questioning of Dr. Ford so naturally she want’s to CYA with the republicans. She’s a joke that missed the mark.

Rachel Mitchell will go down in history as a traitor to her nation and to the cause of justice.

And Mitchell joins the list of Eichmann’s. Now we wait to see if Flake adds his name to that list.

I disagree with that, I think she acted professionally and was cut out, the moment Kavanaugh was getting into hot water.

We’ll have to agree to disagree.

Tell me, Rachel Mitchell, would Brett Kavanaugh’s off the rails rants be tolerated in any courtroom you’ve ever been in? What about his constant refusal to answer questions? His verbal attacks on you? His attacking and ranting at other members present? Would a judge have allowed other members to become red faced and bellowing at how unfair this all was? After all that, you act like this was anything be a sham?

And how do you feel about being played so badly that you should be embarrassed to show your face in a court again, let along claim to be an advocate for sexual assault and rape victims?

Exactly, I would question her competence as a prosecutor if she wouldn’t even subpoena and question the one eye witness to the alleged crime who was a friend of the alleged suspect.

Of course if this was her method of doing business in Maricopa it is no wonder that sheriff A was able to get away with a huge backlog of sexual assault cases.

A search warrant? For what? The issue is a subpoena for Mark Judge. What about that? And it doesn’t concern her at all as she makes her conclusion that when she asked kav about July 1 party on his calendar, he was evasive, and the repubs pulled the plug at that point not allowing her to ask anything else

This is not a criminal matter. Her standards for bringing charges to an incident that happened a long time ago are not the same standards to be used for evaluating a candidate for a lifetime position that will touch the lives of generations of Americans. The hearing was an opportunity to gauge Kavanaugh’s general temperament and adherence to truth in all matters, from small to large. It is now time [for Senators] to decide if Kavanaugh demonstrated those qualities.

They won’t, and will used her pronouncement of innocence as cover for confirming him.

But would she hire him? This was a job interview, not a trial.

It would be the height of prosecutorial malpractice to charge him without having conducted an investigation or collected any evidence, on that we can all agree. Sort of like suggesting as an Olympic diving coach that you’re not ready to recommend President Trump for the national team. It’s completely immaterial. The relevant question is should this man be on the Supreme Court. The answer is clearly no.

She hasn’t, as far as I know, interviewed the alleged eyewitness or any other witness besides the two principals.

To be honest, I don’t know whether a jury would convict beyond a reasonable doubt and no one does because all the evidence has not been presented, But that isn’t the relevant standard. No one gets a job because the prospective employer can’t prove them guilty beyond a reasonable doubt…

After yesterday, I kind of wonder if the headline should read “In Post Mortem of GOP.”

Republicans were sitting with forks and knives waiting to feast on the flesh of Dr Ford. Mitchell didn’t finish the job. When the second course arrived they dug in like famished cannibals.

So.

A lawyer that until a few days ago nobody knew, and was hired by the GOP to intimidate Ford into a lie, and failed, and spent a couple hours talking with Kavanaugh, has decided no charges would have been made?

Gotcha.

what a lark.
