Discussion: In New Tactic, Hyde-Smith Tries Apologizing For Hanging Comment

Not only despicable but also a coward, like that guy in the White House. I wish you all the evil consequences you have earned.

The entrenched racism in parts of our country, revitalized by the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, leaves us with the sad reality that this woman will win.
trump has shown them the political rewards of feeding their base with open racism and hostility.

“There was no ill will, no intent whatsoever in my statement”

Equally free from intent is this ActBlue link for the Espy campaign.

Public hangings, why everyone I know is always joking about attending them. This woman needs some filters on her mouth and brain just like our esteemed leader.

The apology may have had more of its insincere, but intended, effect had she not been wearing her favorite hat during the debate (the gun was for protection from the scary black man) …

This is just another nonapology. She did not apologize for making the statement and basically blamed those who were offended for being offended for her “innocent” statement.

Nothing in all that sounded like “I was wrong.”

Typical Republican nopology. But she can’t even get the wording right. She apologize “for” rather than “to” those who were offended. Her message is still clear: “For those who knew what I meant and weren’t offended, come out and vote for me.”

Strangely enough, this is what racists always say about their racist remarks.

I watched the debate last night. She is an unrepentant liar.

I guess the scary black man is lucky she didn’t fear for her life during the debate…

I guess we now know what her internal polling is saying about the race…

Now there’s a racist remark if I’ve ever seen one. Expect Republican outrage in 3…2…1…

The racists are the real victims here.

So much for “hanging tough”?

In other words - a typical Republican office holder.

Hyde-Smith said what she needed to say to those who voted for Chris McDaniel on Nov. 6. She doesn’t need Espy supporters to flip.

She is absolutely a stupid person…and thoughtless and racist.

I was thinking a complete transorbital lobotomy but I don’t think it would make any noticeable difference.

“For anyone that was offended by my comments, I certainly apologize. There was no ill will, no intent whatsoever in my statement . . . ”

Note to the writer of the headline for this piece: that is not an apology, even though it uses the word “apologize.” She’s just saying, “I did nothing wrong, but if any snowflake was offended I’ll say this to try to obscure my racism.”
