Discussion for article #227332
TEA/gop would have forced her to give birth bankrupting the family when back then, insurance companies denied coverage for preexisting conditions.
Anti-abortion groups, including those that have attacked Davis’ candidacy, expressed sympathy for the tough choice Davis confronted with the second terminated pregnancy but said they hoped all decisions end in choosing to continue a pregnancy.
Why? Why should it be mandated that a pregnancy that is guaranteed to produce a child that entirely insensible, and completely incapable of living without extensive and continual medical intervention, be continued? And if the government is going to mandate that it should be, then shouldn’t the government feel obligated to pay to support that life?
Wendy’s not alone. There are many of us.
This is why women don’t vote ® and do vote (D).
Empathy and compassion and understanding the plight of others are human traits that aren’t about money or power, just caring. There isn’t any of that going on in the Republican Party.
Except that there are plenty of women in Texas and elsewhere who have been taught to believe that they are more or less the property of their husbands, and that the purpose of their votes is to augment the decisions of their husbands.
How else can you explain why Davis and Abbott are tied among women as of last month?:

Authoritarianism, that’s how. That’s just one of the differences in them and us.
Shame on her for failing to continue those pregnancies until she and the fetus were dead. She obviously hates everything American stands for.
I’ll let Rush Limbaugh take it from here.
I can’t explain why Davis and Abbott are tied among women, as there’s no reason for any woman in Texas to ever vote for a Republican.
Why isn’t Davis polling 100% among women?
Her critics are fond of calling her “Abortion Barbie.” With this revelation, and her personal pain in having to make this difficult decision, for a pregnancy that was wanted by her and her husband and was found to have gone tragically wrong - it sure does make those critics a bunch of cretinous assjacks.
the Highest Holiest 'Murican Church of the True Texas Prosperity Jeebus-Patriot just announced that Wendy is going to hell.
“She was suffering.”
Wrong. Even if Wendy believes this, this is just the type of opening forced birthers are looking for. If the fetus suffers…?
It is a question of timing. It sounds like her 1996 pregnancy was fairly far along. There is no bright line dividing when a fetus can and can’t feel pain. Certainly it is no chance at one week, and 100% chance at 8.75 months.
3rd trimester abortions are uncommon, but when they are, they are just about invariably because of a medical condition of either the fetus or the mother.
With all do respect, based on everything I have read about Christianity and God, it is YOU who appears to have no God in your heart.
They were ALWAYS cretinous assjacks!
They already were cretinous jackasses - this just makes it clear to the world.
“…I could feel her little body tremble… and I knew then what I needed to do… She was suffering…”
Trust women.
I’m surprised the home allows you access to a computer. Are there unicorns in your fantasyland?
I see the separation of church and state is strong with this one
