Discussion: In Call With NATO Secretary, Trump Talks Ukraine, Commits To May Summit

What an embarassment to have such a horrible, ignorant person acting in this capacity for our country. The rest of NATO think we have gone mad, and he’s going to travel there and confirm it. Then Bannon will pass all interesting tidbits on to his handlers in Moscow.

Lordy, lordy.

The rest of NATO will me muttering “Remember George W. Bush? Good times.”

A shit stain on diplomacy and Obama’s legacy.

This is just the most efficient use of President Bannon’s time—his errand boy Trump can alienate multiple people all at once, rather than having to do it in separate, time-consuming phone calls.

I expect one of the NATO allies will test Trump’s team with some bait, seeing if Putin finds out.

There’s a “Simpsons” episode where Bart is sent by mistake to a school for gifted kids. The kids figure out pretty quickly he’s dumb compared to them, and they start jerking him around in mean little ways. That’ll be Trump dealing with his international counterparts. Already months ago they’d have seen intelligence assessments of how what we’ll laughingly call his mind works, and they’ll know how to handle him long before any meeting happens.

One I can’t believe Trump who doesn’t pay his own way is complaining about other people not paying their bills ( and I don’t know if it’s true, half true, or completely false, and don’t care).
Two can anyone ever remember when Trump was a peacemaker and not s shit stirrer?
Three It’s wrong to wish death on some one, but a good case of shingles might make me feel better.

Why then should we even assume that Trump will be acting as president still as late as May 2017??

He has had an enormous string of incredible victories, the greatest the country has ever known!! With the country totally great again now and then some more, Isn’t it’s time for him to retire in spectacular Triumph??

Yeah, you keep stressing that.

Don’t feed the troll. He joined up 9 mins ago…

Meanwhile they can practice looking interested when one rehearsing how to look engaged and interested during a 30 minute self-congratulatory (with some denigration along the lines of his current twitter tirade obsessions) monologue while trying to dig out - from said monologue - the one or two phrases that have anything to do with NATO and their operations and relationships.

Yes, the reports that he was unaware of the content of some of the EOs he signed.

I know.

I would guess heads of state have some experience in dealing with highly self-regarding people.

You should really ask your handlers for a new assignment. You’ve been compromised here at TPM. And tell Robert (Rob? Bob? Bobby?)Mercer I said hey.

True. But Trump is in a category of this on his own level. And as President of the US he has to be treated … seriously/diplomatically - even when he does not at accordingly. Certainly throwing in flattery will go a long way, but no eyerolling and sideways glances to peers. (I would find that hard.)
