So proud of my State Senator Don Harmon!!!
Mine too! Me too!
I´m also pleased that, unlike some of our neighboring states, our legislature hasn´t been taken over by Koch Bro Alec bots. I don´t imagine Wi,Mi, In, Mo, Ia, Ky, legislatures are going to be passing similar resolutions any time soon.
Illinois gets to keep “Land of Lincoln” on its license plates.
Waiting for Trump to make some crack like, “Terrible Illinois State Senate. Where failure Obama got his start. Dividing America. Sad.”
Fuckit…post the clip!!
Don’t worry, Governor Brucey Rauner (Asshat-IL) will find some way to screw things up. Again…
Labeling the KKK, white nationalist groups and neo-Nazis as terrorist organizations sounds like an act of rebellion against the government of the US and an incitement to treason. At least Illinois is surrounded by states that are friendly to the administration.
In the immortal words of “Winston Wolf,” “Well, let’s not start sucking each other’s dicks quite yet.” This was a resolution passed by one house of the Illinois legislature, it does not have the force of law, and as a previous commenter noted, even if there were legislation passed, it would not get by Rauner. Having stated that, I applaud the Illinois State Senate and Senator Harmon for doing the right thing. Wouldn’t it be nice if our national legislature followed suit? I’m not holding my breath waiting for that to happen…
In response to violence at a white supremacists rally in Charlottesville, Va. Saturday — in which a self-proclaimed member of the racist group drove his car into a crowd of counter-protesters, killing one — the Illinois state Senate adopted a resolution Sunday that takes a hard stance on white supremacy and neo-Nazi groups.
The resolution urges law enforcement officials to label white nationalist groups and neo-Nazis as terrorist organizations, according to the Chicago Tribune.
If only there was a national legislative body which could make this law of the land… #charlottesville
