Interesting, watch how the rightwing media handles this story. There are two white criminals and one black criminal. Clearly, criminals of all colors kill police officers. And note the use of the word “criminals.” Most think the people who kill police officers are CRIMINALS. (Funnily enough, there are certain people such as Cliven Bundy and friends whom are heralded by the rightwing media, even though they are stealing from we the people–so “criminal” seems to only apply to a certain class of “criminal” with a highly flexible standard in those circles, but I digress).
When a police officer kills a young black man who ISN’T behaving criminally–with the caveat that jaywalking or evading taxes are generally not considered crimes that warrent arrest let alone death, or the state allows someone claiming “fear” to walk free after killing a young black man, we ask that those people TOO be called criminals. Too often the state endorses the idea that people who commit these acts against unarmed young black men are “upstanding citizens” who merely at worst made a mistake and that the victim deserved what they got.
That picture is less than a mile from where I live.
Fox Lake will never be the same.
I had friends posting this as if it was all black people killing a white cop “When will the President Step Up!” … shocking to find out it was just another crime and not a targeted killing of a white cop by black thugs.
My mom grew up in Grayslake. I know the area well.
Sounds like a drug thing going on. My condolences to the family of this policeman. Folks had nothing but good things to say about him.
Well this case has gotten no attention in a while after such a big start. Just reading through what little there is now it looks like it’s either a suicide or maybe internal dispute between officers. Wonder if they will make a big deal about that?
