James Comey (R-Obama Appointee) was another horrible mistake by President Obama. There was no reason Obama could not have appointed a Democrat as FBI Director. None. The FBI has been breaking the law for decades infiltrating and disrupting anti-war and anti-racism organizations. It needed and needs a housecleaning.
The FBI has never had a Democrat as Director.
But even though FBI Director Comey violated Justice Department policies and used his position to get Clinton defeated and Republicans elected in 2016, Obama still couldnât see the gravity of his mistake:

And he said, âBut I wanna just tell you something generally. âThen he looked me in the eye and he said, âNothing has happened, nothing, in the last year that has changed my view of that,ââ Comey added.
Even after 8 years, Obama clearly never grasped the treacherousness of Republicans, and that is a huge reason that we are where we are today.

More evidence that the presidential election and its outcome were rigged by the Republican party. The public officials elected as a result of the rigged election are illegitimate and have no standing.
But that is exactly what he did.
Comey broke with FBI and DOJ norms. We knew that during the election, and we knew it hurt Hillary. But nice to know it wasnât politically motivated, just Comey being an overwrought Boy Scout.
Yet, the Trumpsters are going to immediately scream that Comey and the FBI canât be trusted and were out to get Trump during the election. Even though they kept the investigation of the Trump campaign absolutely secret.
Republicans have been licking their chops for this IG report to come out.
I donât think they realize, that the biggest misconduct was from Comey when he announced that they were closing Hillaryâs file and then excoriated her. Then he made her file public and then the letters right before the election.
I think that Comey really thought he was doing the right thing, but he deviated from policy and used his âjudgmentâ and was wrong. Thatâs why you have policy and not just judgment. Comeyâs biggest error was believing that his innate âjudgmentâ was better than the rules.

Failure to follow proper procedure. For employees in my old goverment agencies this would be cause for a written reprimand and, if warranted by the severity, a suspension of 10-30 work days.

Thanks for bringing up the sordid, criminal past of the FBI. It terrorized US citizens who dared to protest against the Vietnam war and it infiltrated civil rights orgs that simply wanted to help end the brutalizing of black people. The FBI gets no pass from me; and now we find that Comey did in fact harm Hillary by his wanton disregard for protocol and, most likely, the law. Republicans cannot possibly win elections given the demographics of the US, so they lie, cheat, steal, gerrymander and otherwise corrupt the voting system to retain power. Despicable, dangerous, duplicitous.

Well, the Dem leaders are still not quite up to the assholery of the Republicans. For the last thirty years they always appear to be trying to reach âbipartisan compromiseâ with them which mostly means that the Democratic positions are abandoned in favor of the Republican ones, even if the Democratic positions are watered down to begin with in order to appeal to the opoosition, e.g. health care during the Obama presidency.
Let the finger pointing and madness begin. Once again, Trump runs the news cycle.

Say Comey had sat the sidelines and steered clear of Hillary issues until the election was over. Hillary probably wins. Comey is then hounded by Congress and those in the FBI and DOJ to relentlessly persecute Hillary for the litany of perceived transgressions every last person on the Right would throw out, for her entire term(s). I think the U.S. was in a bit of a lose-lose circumstance in 2016, although 4 years of Hillary bashing would have been preferable to Trump.
OK, you find that Comey âused his position to get Clinton defeated and Republicans elected,â whereas the I-G, and Obama, and I do not.
