Thanks for the article. Sounds like an interesting movie.

Something tells me I won’t find it at the local mega-metroplex.

Could you please put SPOILERS in the title. I saw Lilly Tomlin on Charlie Rose talking about this film and I want to see it and you give away a HUGE part of the plot. I would not have read it if I had known you were going to do that. Just saying spoilers in the sentence before is not enough!!!

This sounds like a lot of grandmas I’ve heard of.
When I was 18 my girlfriend, 17, had an abortion (her previous BF’s conception) and it was her grandma that took her to do it.
Later that year, a later GF, same neighborhood, told me that she’d had one the year before, and same thing - her grandma took her.
It’s the grandmothers who knew what’s what about this stuff and seemed to have the love yet the distance to be able to think sensibly about their granddaughter’s future without going into a shaming rage. Or at least that’s who young women felt would be that way.

(This was in a strongly Catholic, poor inner-city neighborhood. Sexual ignorance was astounding.)

Turns out—spoiler alert—she does.

That has to be the worst spoiler alert ever.

Another here who was looking forward to seeing the movie after having seen Tomlin on a talk show. Thanks to Shannon Kelley revealing major things that make movies enjoyable, those elements will no longer have the same effect that is intended by the moviemaker. Thanks for spoiling something, Ms. Kelley. I’ll make sure not to ever read your commentary again because you frankly don’t know how to properly present it.

Ms. Tomlin is a national treasure, I don’t think she’s ever done anything that turned out badly. she’s one of the very few people of note that I’d actually like to meet in person.
