Discussion: ‘I Didn’t Want This’: Woman In Greitens Scandal Speaks Out For First Time

I feel for this woman, but if you don’t want trouble, don’t have an affair with a married person, especially a powerful politician married person. She got hosed and that is terrible but don’t step into a snake nest and expect to come out without some bites.
Pretty simple.

She was used by all the males in this political tug of war. None of them respect women. I hope women voters finally start standing up for themselves at the polls instead of acting like pawns that can be moved around and sacrificed by a corrupt system.

If she weren’t kinda not-all-there in the first place, would Greitens just have picked someone else? (For all we know she’s just the only one who’s come forward.)

At best she was pressured by Grietens. He was the moving party and ultimately abused and blackmailed her. She was betrayed by her ex-husband and now finds herself in a vulnerable position because of one indiscretion on her part and multiple power plays by the males involved. .

People are human. Things happen & they do things that are wrong or foolish. But that never justifies or excuses rape. Or any other kind of assault or battery.

BTW, most folks wouldn’t know it was a snake nest until after getting bitten.

What we’ve reliably established is that this guy Greitens is a slimeball who likes to assault women. I can’t speak to the consent involved in the original affair (my guess is that a bit of extramarital sex with the big, powerful player in Missouri politics was attractive, until he started using his iPhone camera as a prop, and possibly when he began with the bondage and slapping. This guy doesn’t sound like part of the “safe, sane, and consensual” whips and chains crowd). If he beats the rap, it’s only because he had enough animal cunning to delete the picture, which is somewhat the same as beating a murder rap because you did a good job hiding the body. I have always contended that most of us men aren’t like that, but now I’m wondering if I’m the outlier.

Unfortunately, if Greitens walks, she will still get outed. Republicans going to Republican.

My suggestion to her would be to come out on your own terms, because when the Republicans out you, they will have a whole attack plan to destroy you.

I don’t think it really matters (I don’t agree with the victim-blaming either way), but Greitens had just launched his political career at the time of the affair. He was a public figure, but he was hardly a powerful politician.

Justice has been stacked against women.

If only she’d said “no” 91 times…
It’s unbelievable what we men can get away with. Here’s an account of an ongoing trial in which a naval officer is accused of raping a junior officer.

Jurors heard video from Neuhart’s cellphone in which she screams at him to leave and **

tells him some 90 times to stop trying to have sex with her.

**

…the jury was deadlocked. This was declared a mistrial.
People still insist there is no such thing as rape culture.

From a much longer report on how a few women responded to non consensual sex. “Justice” will deem these women as guilty of having made a predator do it.

I didn’t want him to be mad at me. Or yell at me. And I wasn’t sure I didn’t want it.

He was my friend. I didn’t want to hurt his feelings. Instead I made an excuse, mumbled something like, “Well, maybe we could hook up sometime — I don’t know.

Tears streamed down his face as he asked me if he was a rapist now.

I shouldn’t have to go out worrying about the line of consent. I shouldn’t have to worry that one flirtatious cue by default leads to full access to my body.

I don’t know of Greitens is technically a rapist but that we have to have this discussion is problem enough and demonstrates the rot that exists at the heart of the republican party
