She doesn’t seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed.

“Many of you may have heard of Sen. Henry Hyde from Oklahoma,” Hyde-Smith said, according to a video published Sunday by the Jackson Free Press. “That was a distant relative. He put in a bill many years ago that we could never use federal funding to fund abortions.”

Well, it’s always nice to see people taking pride in their families.

Did she also mention the adulterous affair that Henry had with a married mother of three?

It’s increasingly hard to keep the history books rewritten fast enough to keep up with Republican Truth.

Henry Hyde, he of “youthful indiscretion” fame.

It’s how the GOP likes them; helps them relate to their base and Wall Street can snooker them. Win-win.

All she had to do was just keep her trap shut, maybe go into hiding for a few weeks, and she would coast to victory on the strength of the R next to her name. Now, well she’ll probably still win, but it will make MS look even more idiotic and backwoods to the rest of the nation. Sorry Mississippians.

Also a distant relation of Dr Jekyll?

She is not appealing to the sharpest electorate either.

Oh, if you think she’s even started yet…think again (watch the vid in the tweet)…

Lines for early voting have been significant down here. While still unlikely, there is some chance that Espy actually pulls this out (a la Doug Jones in AL).

And before anyone else jumps on the “you’re all a bunch of rednecks down there in MS”, let’s remember that even in the supposed bastions of liberalism Trumpists made a mark in 2016. Don’t eat your own here, be focused on getting out the vote and making progress everywhere we can.

Yes, “youthful,” as it happened in his mid-30s, I believe. Sheesh.

She has recently come under fire for jokes about “public hanging” and vote suppression.

She's getting lot of guff for alleged missteps, but isn't she actually appealing to the majority of Mississippi voters?

WIKI:

While Hyde was spearheading the impeachment of President Bill Clinton in the Monica Lewinsky affair, it was revealed that Hyde himself had conducted an extramarital sexual affair with Cherie Snodgrass who was also married. Hyde admitted to the affair and attributed the relationship as a mere “youthful indiscretion”. He was 41 years old and married when the affair occurred. Hyde said the affair ended when Snodgrass’ husband confronted Mrs. Hyde. At the time, Snodgrass was also married and had three children.[12]

The Snodgrasses divorced in 1967. The Hydes reconciled and remained married until Mrs. Hyde’s death in 1992.[13]

It was even more youthful than that — he was 41.

As a former member of the House Banking Committee, Hyde was also famous for doing the bidding of Clyde Federal Savings and Loan, which eventually failed, costing taxpayers $67 million. He was also the only member of congress sued for “gross negligence” in an S&L failure, something even Sid McCrashcup avoided.

So to recap, he was an adulterer, a financial scammer and an ardent defender of Raygun during the Iran-Contra scandal. In short, her kind of guy.
