Discussion: Hyde-Smith Banking On Boost From Two Separate Trump Rallies Monday

Hyde-Smith has drawn fire for attending a white private school that was founded after court-ordered school desegregation of public schools. She’s been seen in a photo wearing a replica hat of a Confederate soldier and in a video praising a supporter by saying, “If he invited me to a public hanging, I’d be on the front row.”

As usuall, the AP is … confused. What school Hyde-Smith’s parents sent her to is not really her fault; the point is that years later she sent her own child to an identical school.

And given the importance of turn-out, you’d think Hyde-Smith’s “joke” about voter suppression might be relevant but the AP omits it entirely.

Sad to say, she’s going to win big. Mississippi will remain as backward as they’ve always been. Phil Ochs’ and Nina Simone’s classics about this abominable state remain as relevant as ever.

What a mediocre Senator this person has been and will be. A complete dud. Name a single thing she has said or done during her time in Washington. Only blind partisan and racial identification could get her elected to a town council, let alone the US Senate…

Yes, she does seem … insubstantial.

Is the Klan going to burn a cross at each of these rallies, or only one?

Thank you, Vicar.

So you think that Alabama will be able to hold on to its state motto for a while longer: Thank God for Mississippi.

I now wonder if there’s ever been a Republican Senatorial candidate from Alabama or Mississippi (post-Southern Strategy) who wasn’t either a pedophile, an unrepentant white supremacist, or both. The Trump era simply makes it easier for us to suss them out.

“All the Mississippi farmers want is a fair deal, and I’m excited that the president has stepped up to renegotiate these deals.”

I’m guessing soybean farmers are getting fucked over by China’s embargo retaliation.

And some other great economic news. Kind of reminds me of all the Obama layoffs…oh wait that was Bush!

Per this article the steel tariff has cost GM a billion dollars!
