Discussion: Husband Of Suspect In Killing Of Arab Neighbor Tried To Warn That He Had Gun

This would be the norm under a Drumpf/NRA/Putin presidency.

Not gonna happen…

I am ashamed to admit that I was surprised to see this guy had a husband. I know gay people can do anything they want, and I should not prejudge people, but it just never occurred to me that a gay could be this bigoted.

I know it’s 100% hindsight, but why didn’t he call the police as well?

I was surprised too, but for a different reason. I assumed this guy was a RWNJ white supremacist type and expected him to be more of a supporter of Kim Whatsheruglyface’s nasty stance against gay marriage.

Just goes to show how complex people are (even when they are idiots).

The victim did call the police and told them the known-criminal with a long history of threats and harassment and violence had a gun. The cops came, didn’t see the suspect and apparently didn’t bother searching for him, and they left.

The murder took place 8 minutes after they left. FUCK THESE COPS AND FUCK THE JUDGE WHO RELEASED A VIOLENT CRIMINAL.

There ARE gay Republicans. Quite a few of them but like blacks and women you wonder why they would associate with a party that so obviously dislikes them.

I guess I was just thinking if the “husband” had called the police as soon as he knew about the gun, it may have bought more time, and he may have also had an idea where the gun was. Maybe the police would have taken him more seriously. Tragic situation all around.

I just don’t see how this person was set loose after he deliberately tried to kill a woman by running her down with his car. He has a criminal record and showed signs of being dangerously psychotic. This guy’s behavior cannot fully be attributed to his racism – he is insane. Was there no legal mechanism hold him as a imminent threat to others?

I know, I know, which is why I kick myself when I make such assumptions. And, yes, I do ask myself what drives people to associate with a group that is really so antagonistic to them.

My only explanation is that research has shown that, in general, people make decisions based upon 1) very few data points and 2) emotion rather than logic. So, I rationalize that many of these people have 1-2 hobbyhorses (anti-abortion, lower taxes) and ignore the rest including those things which can directly harm them (getting rid of Social Security), and others of them just always go GOP because their social environment (family, friends) are GOP, they would be outcasts otherwise and/or they have been taught that the Dems are devils incarnate.

But that would have led to more problems in CA. and in OK. I hate to be the one who says “Hey guy you knew your husband had problems and what did you do?” “Yes you warned the neighbor but you didn’t call the police because???” And how much money has this husband cost you?

Haven’t had enough coffee, because I’m not sure what you meant by this? Type slowly, I’m still sleepy…

Yep. These are the kind of people Trump will empower…or is empowering, I should say. He’s inspiring every troubled person with a weapon to act on their hatred and anger toward “the other”.

Sadly, this will become the norm and give groups like ISIL all they’ll need to recruit and get stronger.

He was suppose to be released and wear an ankle monitor but the judge decided he wasn’t a threat to anyone else and didn’t need the electronic monitor; which if he had been wearing the police would have been able to find him.

"Majors, a Los Angeles native, had a long rap sheet that stretched back to California. He moved to Tulsa in 2011 while still on parole for felony weapons charges, according to the Los Angeles Times, and California authorities issued a warrant for his arrest in 2012 for violating the terms of his supervision.

Majors was extradited to California in 2013, but returned to Oklahoma and married Schmauss there in 2014, according to court records."

Not a lawyer here but a "felony weapons charges (plural not singular) should have been taken notice of by the OK judge that released him w/o ankle monitor 10 weeks earlier. Does OK let those convicted of a felony weapons charge still own a weapon?

And it happened Tuesday night in Washington.

He seems nice. Oh, wait, I meant to type “He seems like a psychopathic, disheveled murderer.”

Gotcha, little slow on the uptake this morning… :-}

Help me here. How did he get a gun? In OK, it is permissible to get a gun if you are a non-violent felon, but it seems fairly clear that this guy was a violent one. Makes me want to move to that state!

It makes me want to be a college teacher in Oklahoma! At my stage of life, I don’t get enough thrills. Harshly grading classes where any student might be a psychopathic, violent felon with a gun, ready to shoot me for a bad grade, would add some needed spice to my daily routine.
