Discussion: Husband Of KY Clerk: 'She Won't Resign, I Promise You'

so, you disapprove of her conduct of refusing to perform her obligations ?

Thanks BSD.

Throughout this period of Mr. Obama’s Presidency (and, indeed, before), I have looked at the Bagger phenomenon as a like dangerous glacier…with its own force, UNCHANGING in direction, treacherous but as much a part of the common scenery as a corn field. So it is with the kinds of Reactionaries we have been forced to deal with in this Millennium.

They are here. They have always been here. They are helped by the 0.001%, and their Action Group, the Republican Party (who both need them for Power). Their motivations are sharpened by FOX, Talk Radio and the MSM.

Done They are a force. Period.

But this idea of people who have the civic responsibility to address this menace and who instead abdicate that responsibility… That should always have been the focus. Those who KNOW what the Republican Party is doing and fail to act should be held to a higher standard…and will bear, in my mind, more responsibility for the spate of TeaBagg politicians who have infiltrated our state and Congressional government sectors of government than scared, bigoted, xenophobic, insular, old and isolated people watching FOX 12 hours-per-day.

For the five millionth time in the last two weeks: she is elected. The governor can’t fire her. She would have to be impeached. And this has been stated a gazillion of times already in these threads.

Great! Then she will be terminated by the state and will spend a long time in jail. Say goodbye to your wife, you may not see her again for a long time, which may not be a bad thing for you!

So the judge can’t bully them, but they can bully the people of Kentucky? Gotcha!

“Spoiler alert”

I KNEW this woman was a Democrat when I posted. But if there is an implication that the “Parties are Equal” on this stuff, I want something substantial.

…not until the ComeFundMeSuckers has collected One Million Dollars! because Je$u$.

Right, or if a paramedic who was a Jehovah’s Witness refused to insert an IV into a gunshot victim because he/she was religiously opposed to blood transfusions…

Or an earth-worshiping neo-pagan who worked in the Fishing and Game Reserve refused to issue a hunting or fishing license because he/she was religiously opposed to killing animals…

Her affiliation with the Democratic party could be more a family tradition, like the clerk position, than ideological. Her family may be some of the last holdout Democrats in the South from before the Southern Strategy flipped the parties.

If she’s the County Clerk, she might be the official custodian of various public records, including courts, County Commission etc. It’s a high-level function.

Jeezuz Haitch Kentucky crapgrass, Joe D., it ain’t “conscience convictions”, it’s CONSCIENTIOUS convictions, you moron galoot.

Tell you what, Joe D., you keep uttering threats against a federal judge and your state’s governor and you may just get a speeded-up connubial visit with that remarkable classic beauty of a native warthog you keep on marrying.

Of course she won’t resign 80K in Hicksville KY is a pretty big deal

Is she still drawing a paycheck while she’s in jail?

That’s what my thinking was. Its been fun and frustrating watching some on the right point out her party affiliation as some kind of “she’s one of you!” zinger, and then go on to defend her via every right-wing faux persecution meme in the book. They’re like the idiots that think they can hand-wave decades of history away by pointing out that the KKK was started by Democrats, and act all smug like they just ended the debate.

And now you know why her husband is up in arms over her being in jail - the gravy train stops! He needs her to be home doing the cooking, cleaning, laundry, caring for him and his needs, all while bringing home the rather oversized bacon her job provides. He said it best when he described himself as a redneck - kind of like Old Man Robertson. I guess he will have to find some way to keep himself financially solvent while she sits in jail. But then again, maybe her Christian women friends might be able to help him out while she sits in jail with the household chores and his kid can help out with the bills. Of course I could be wrong, but when your wife earns $80K in a backwater place like Rowan County, one wonders what exactly a man is missing more - her money or her meeting his every need. And I will lay you odds that he is a born-again Christian just like her and expects her to submit to his every order at home as well, because under God’s Authority, everything she does is for his benefit second only to God.

I wonder if he can have her suspended and appoint an interim clerk until this issue is resolved.

A dozen years ago the Florida governor suspended the elected Supervisor of Elections and replaced her with an appointee.

The Governor can’t fire her. Only the Legislature can impeach her and try her. Given that it’s a TeaTroll majority Lege, I doubt they’ll do that. The bigger question, is will the Lege pull her fat out of the fire by creating some sort of face-saving maneuver.

I will fall back to my guiding philosophy of life: Never expect to reason someone out of a position they didn’t reach through reason.

Probably.

One issue that’s been largely ignored in this case is the violation of the First Amendment Establishment Clause by Kim Davis.

As an agent of the state who is forcing others to abide by her religious beliefs as a condition of doing business with her as a state agent, she is effectively establishing Christianity as a state religion.

That’s a no-no, and if Davis were a Muslim, the Right Wing would be going insane over it.
