This is just another test of how far they can push things…a minor information port that is watched by few, where they hoped they could scrub it in spite of laws and legal agreements requiring the information to be publicly available. And, they also tried to cover it by saying that the information was still available via FOIA, which everyone knows can be ignored or delayed until the request is irrelevant.
Make no mistake, this is just a taste of where the Trump administration wants to take government information, so they can redact all the data and only release the numbers they want…it’s a small step from there to releasing fake numbers that just say what they want. It’s a good thing groups are being vigilant about this, everyone needs to keep an eye on all data to make sure it stays available, and we will need government employees to sound the word when the numbers are being manipulated for political purposes.
Oh, those pesky court orders! poor Trump can’t EO them away.

Hit em on ALL fronts …and don’t let up ! …
I work in the animal rights movement. USDA’s decision to take the database offline protects corporations that abuse animals from public and legal backlash. It does nothing else.
TerroriSts scruBBed thE daTa. LamEstreAm mediA didn’t report.
Sue the orange bastard for anything and everything.
OK, now I’m getting really pissed off.
Nothing says progress like relitigating the last century.
So now Trump has pissed off the animal rights people, too. Won’t be long before it’s only the white nationalists left. Most of them are probably not too concerned about animal rights. They probably like to lynch them just for the practice.
That usually is all it takes - something about animals.
I get that, too.
Your empathy for animals is usually an indicator of your empathy towards people. There’s a reason Trump doesn’t have pets
And your diminishing it says loads about yours.
Trump loves torture and no one tortures more individuals than the animal use industries. For meat, egg, and diary it is billions per year. Animal agriculture is also the biggest polluter, and Trump loves big polluters. Figures he is protecting these cruel and destructive industries. At least we can boycott their products.
That’s all it’s supposed to do.
I think you misread the comment.
fair enough.
USDA employees can look forward to being prohibited from so much as panning a crappy dinner on Yelp, for fear of retaliation by the army of organic Twitterbots and death threateners.
Transparency is for Democrats. ASPCA is political correctness incarnate. I love animals. I wear one on my head 18 hours a day.
this shit is likely going on in lots of places as we speak. then we can have alt-#s and alt-facts.
