And this guy was picked by CNN to help them moderate the next debate. Good Lord. That tells you everything you need to know about how dysfunctional these cable debates have become. This is how they want the American public to determine who the next President of the United States should be.
Who will CNN get for their Democratic primary debates? Will it be a Hugh Hewitt clone? Cause you know it won’t be a partisan Democratic radio host…That’s for sure. That shit only works one way…cause its OKIYAR.
Not only do we have the Reality TV Presidential race, we also have the Cable Infotainment TV Primaries brought to you by Rightwing AM Radio hosts. The whole process has become a disgrace. Our democracy is seriously in jeopardy if this kind of shit isn’t called out as a complete sham. Its conducted by the very corporations that are determined to kill off the collective intelligence of the American people, replacing it with nothing more than pablum, seeking out low-information voters for the most part. These debates are no longer there to educate, enlighten, expose or inform the public on any serious issues or policies facing the country. The cable companies are just trying to keep their audience watching, much like a sit-com or variety show, even if it means the dumb get dumber concerning our politics in the process.
Hugh Hewitt is a nobody as a moderator, yet he’ll be able to use the Republican debate model CNN has now afforded him, as a way exploit the field of candidates for his own partisan purposes. One can only wonder what questions he’ll bring to the ® candidates that have any interest beyond his own narrow objectives and that of his party. That’s not what these debates are supposed to be about even in the primaries. The moderators are supposed to be above reproach as non-partisan, on both sides of the debate.
I can understand opposing opinions or, as Glenn Greenwald likes to call it a point of view, but as a member of the press or Sunday round table discussions or debate moderator he shouldn’t be allowed to disseminate false information unchallenged.
The guy who setup Clinton’s server then invoked his 5th amendment right to remain silent was a lowly IT guy who didn’t want to be dragged into an epic political fight. Calling him a senior aide is a lie delivered so casually that, unchallenged, it almost appears as accepted fact.
Yep…It’s called “Access.” If you don’t have it, you don’t get the ratings. If you don’t get the ratings, you don’t get the ad revenue. And thus is ad revenue the new arbiter of truth. It’s the Circle of Lies…and oh what an ecosystem it has created…
How is there remotely no evidence to imply guilt? You have a wiped email server, an evasive former SoS and a subordinate who will plead the 5th instead of testifying. That’s not nearly no evidence of wrong doing or possible guilt.
This is like Benghazi – after all the noise and outrage from the right, nobody is sure what Clinton or the Obama administration supposedly did that merits such a reaction.
