Discussion: Huckabee: KY Clerk Shouldn't Bow To 'False God Of Judicial Supremacy'

Discussion for article #240056

Huck, I hate to have to tell you this but there ainā€™t no god, only men and women. If she doesnā€™t do the duties of her job she has to go.

Oh I agree. One shouldnā€™t bow to the false god of Judicial Law, especially when it comes to kicking the crap out of pompous, sanctimonious, know nothing blowhards.

Heā€™ll keep talking so long as that sweet cash keeps rolling in.

And what if she was a Muslim? Allah Akbar yā€™all, right?

OH! RIGHT! Mike Huckabee exists. Strange how I keep forgetting that.

Iā€™m sure Kim appreciates all the support she gets from Josh Duggarā€™s best friend. Can we get some nice Open Carry Patriots to guard her house too? In case a Muslim or an Atheist or a meter reader shows up?

ā€œKim is asking the perfect question: ā€˜Under what law am I authorized to issue homosexual couples a marriage license?ā€™ That simple question is giving many in Congress a civics lesson that they never got in grade school,ā€ Huckabee said in a Wednesday statement, according to Right Wing Watch.

At the risk of offending Sarah Palin, what a retard.
The Supreme Court ruled that same sex marriage is a Constitutional right. Therefore, any laws currently in effect to sanction heterosexual marriages also apply to homosexual marriages.
Actually, to call him a retard is unfair. Huckabee is such a bigot, he canā€™t wrap his head around the idea of a gay couple being the same Godā€™s creatures as a heterosexual couple.
But thatā€™s his problem.

How is this hard to understand? Marriage, as itā€™s currently constructed, and certainly with regards to Ms. Davisā€™s job, is a civil institution, created by the laws of man (and women). As such the Supreme Court certainly has the ability to require that any law is enforced consistent with constitutional principles like equality. This exact idea, that civil laws are created by the state and not the church is literally the foundation of our country and in keeping with our historical principles.

With respect to Ms. Davis, her job, like KYā€™s laws, is a creature of statute and she has obligations under the law to follow the law. Her personal beliefs have no bearing on her professional performance.

Now, I get that most posters here understand this concept. What I donā€™t understand is how these people are so worried about enforcing some sort of religious doctrine. If there is a god and heaven, let them worry about any supposed punishment for those who donā€™t live by certain principles. Or, as had been written, judge notā€¦

As for Huck, well, heā€™s proven time and time again that heā€™s a first class asshole. Heā€™ll always glom onto whatever faux christian crisis there is, provided the cameras and news media are there.

Kentucky county clerks, however, are true gods.

But only if theyā€™re Republican.

HEY!!! Rubeā€¦ you donā€™t speak for any godā€¦ stop itā€¦ make your argument without waving a collection of fictional stories in my faceā€¦ you might as well refer to Aesopā€™s Fables when making your crappy argumentā€¦

Mike , I just spoke to God and He said she can issue the licences .

Exactly. In Loving v. VA, the Supreme Court struck down all anti-miscegination laws. If you follow Huckabeeā€™s ā€œreasoning,ā€ the VA legislature would have been required, after the Supreme Court ruling, to pass a law legalizing marriage between a black and white American citizen.

I have a feeling Mr. Huckabeeā€™s opinions do not extend to the Supreme Courtā€™s decisions concerning Citizenā€™s United and the Voting Rights Act and the Hobby Lobby legal fiasco. Funny how that works, ainā€™t it?
Huckabeeā€™s campaign is circling around the skidmarks on the bowl. Heā€™s in it for the same reason Kim Davis is, as Dan Savage recently pointed out: wingnut welfare. I think it is rather funny that most of the major Republican candidates - you know, the ones that might have a realistic chance to win the nomination, unlike losers such as Huckabee, Jindal, Rubio, and Paul - are trying to avoid this issue like the plague. Of course, their crazy-ass base will drag them into this septic tank eventually.

This woman has had several husbands, who is she to talk about one man one woman. Mr. Huckabeeā€™s god is the almighty dollar, who is he to talk about bowing to false gods.

My deeply held religious believes say I cannot serve any Christian in any capacity. I will no longer help any ā€œborn-againā€ believer.

How is that Huckster?

Well, Huckabee is certainly right about one thing: I truly have disdain for him.

The presidential candidate said that he spoke with Davis, who continues to refuse to issue marriage licenses to gay couples, and said that she is ā€œshowing more courage and humility than just about any federal office holder in Washington.ā€

Thatā€™s not courage and humility. Itā€™s arrogance and ignorance.

She is one of the most recent examples of why religion in America is waning. Millenials and Gen Xā€™s and Yā€™s see this behavior and understand that they want no part of it. This woman is a hypocrite from the word ā€˜Goā€™ and is ignoring one of the bullet points in her job description. The media is giving her an undeserved platform.

If any one of us were to ignore a bullet point in our job descriptions or refuse to perform that point, there would be no discussion, regardless of the reasons for the refusal. Weā€™d be out of there.

Hopefully the court hearing today will put an end to this nonsense.

This is awesome! Mike Huckabee for president! There are a lot of laws I donā€™t agree with. I declare them all false gods! Excuse me while I go ride my bicycle the wrong way, on the sidwalk, naked.
