Discussion: Huckabee: Don't Blame Pam Geller For 'Radical Islamic Savages' In Texas

Discussion for article #236085

I never thought I’d back Gov. Hucklebee on anything but I will say the same thing I said after Charlie Hebdo attacks: There is a time for criticizing those who abuse their free speech rights by gratuitously insulting and seeking to provoke religious believers, but all debate ends, IMO, when those believers turn to violence.

Free speech : yes , but not when violence is attributable to it .

So if a theater critic calls an actor’s performance dreadful and said actor throttles said critic, the “violence [was] attributable to it”?

“I don’t blame organizers of a free speech event for the fact that some radical Islamic savages decided to just go and mow down a bunch of people. I find that just bizarre,” he said.

Is “radical Islamic savages” used to distinguish the shooters from “moderate Islamic savages”?
I suppose the Governor would say that those who fire bomb an abortion clinic are 100% to blame, with no blame attaching to the “abortionists.”

“I’m a Christian, Steve. I get offended every day by things people say about me and my faith. I don’t want to murder anyone over it.”

Of course not, you ignoramus. And just because there are murderous Christians like Eric Robert Rudolph, James Charles Kopp, Jim David Adkisson, Scott Roeder, the Christian Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, the Army of God, and Generals Peter Pace and Jerry Boykin, we don’t implicate your bigoted lying fat punk ass for their propensity to murder in the name of your savior.

The end times must be near when I find myself in agreement with Mike freakin’ Huckabee

“I’m a Christian, Steve.”

Of a sort.

So if I know someone that legally owns a gun, and I do something legal, but that causes them to fear for their life so that they pull their gun and shoot some innocent bystander, I’m not in anyway responsible?

That’s what these, dumb fuck, Geller supporters are saying.

There are times when both sides of an issue are wrong: Those who provoke violence and those who respond to the provocation with violence. The “radical Islamic savages” paid with their lives. Geller is paying by getting the support of sanctimonious pricks like Mike Huckabee. It is noteworthy, however, that sanctimonious pricks are divided on the issue: Mike Huckabee pro-provocation, Bill Donahue and Franklin Graham anti-provocation. I guess we’ll have to wait and see which side Rick Santorum comes down on.

“I understand why they would come to that conclusion, but I disagree with it because you do not blame the victim of a crime for the crime committed by a murdering criminal.”

FFS, Geller is NOT the victim, the unarmed security guard is the victim. Geller set up the scenario and is now playing the victim.

There is a difference.

Huckabee is an apologist for Geller not because he so much believes she did the right thing, but simply because she agrees with his hatred of Muslims.

I don’t want to murder anyone over it.

He keeps making these types of references. He said something similar the other day when talking about his childhood BB gun.

Methinks the gentleman doth protest too much. I hope Fatherland Security is keeping tabs on this guy!

Correct.

I’m 6’4" tall, 240 lbs, I ran across the street one time, late for school, and scared the living f*ck out of a woman walking on the other side of the road so bad she turned and ran. I was just late for school, if she was conceal-carrying I would be dead and you’re saying it would be my fault?

Everyone is responsible for their own actions and reactions.

Why is everything good or evil? Can’t both sides just be evil. Here both sides are encouraging violence for their own purposes. I think Muslims who would commit acts of violence over some depiction of the prophet are wrong, but I also believe people who would deliberately provoke Muslims as part of their effort to start a religious war are also wrong.

Well said.

How anyone, even this lying grifter, can see Geller as a victim in all of this is beyond my comprehension.

As I said in response to the first story about this: Her only reasonable response to this tragedy must be Mission Accomplished!

Well, if you lived in a “stand your ground” state, it wouldn’t be the little old lady’s fault because you caused her to fear for her safety. So if she shoots you, it’s your fault for provoking her. She doesn’t know you’re just late for school, and since you’re dead, you can’t tell her or apologize for scaring her. See how “stand your ground” makes the victim into the cause of his own death?

If I drew a cartoon of Jesus having anal intercourse with Mrs. Huckabee and her subsequently performing oral sex on Jesus, I’m betting a few Christians would take offense.

Remember folks, these same ‘good’ Christians are the ones burning crosses on the lawns of African-American churches and drawing swastikas on synagogues.

And these same good Christians are the ones who defended Cliven Bundy’s right to aim guns at federal law enforcement.

Their hypocrisy and fear mongering knows no bounds.
