The most important thing to keep in mind is that this is the ultimate goal of the GOP (or at least a good portion of its members): to deprive women of their right to choose.
Any Democrat who stays home on Election Day because his favored candidate did not get nominated might have this on his conscience for the rest of his life.
I, for one, applaud Trump for taking the anti-choice position to its logical conclusion and for acknowledging the agency of women in decisions concerning their own bodies.
Normally, I canât take Chris Matthewsâ interviewing style, but it was perfect for Trump. Finally, someone cut through Trumpâs bluster and revealed him as the Palinesque airhead weâve suspected all along.
Frankly, if youâre Anti-Choice, why Wouldnât you support strong sanctions against the women who elect to have this procedure?
Itâs a very good thing that Trump came out on this-- it exposes the hypocrisy of the anti-Choice crowd.
If abortion=murder, then the mother most certainly is a murderer, and should be treated as such.
If itâs not, then maybe the anti-choice folks need to re-think their arguments.
the truth about Donnie Dimwitâs hairâŚ

itâs probably whatâs affected his brainâŚ
Just imagine the instability he would cause in the world if he flipped flopped like this on economic issues or foreign policy as president . There is no back tracking after you crash the world economy,or start a war.
Yes, that is what I do not get. If abortion is murder (which it is not) then why wouldnât you punish the woman, the doctor, the person who drove to the clinic, etc, they are all either directly or indirectly involved in the murder. If they were knowingly killing a person with a gun they would all be charged with crimes.
I actually suspect that if the anti-bodily-autonomy, anti-choice crowd had their way, they would criminalize everyone who was involved. And as soon as they can they will.
They are not hypocrites, they are deceitful, sneaky, dishonest, liars is what they are. They know they will punish everyone involved, they are just lying and saying they will not.
Tweety often ticks me off but there are times when he actually scores a direct hit. He may have mortally wounded Trump. Now if Tweety can do the same to TexAssHole CruzâŚ
Agreed. Every once in a while it is refreshing that Trump is not a trained politician who observes all the big taboos, but someone who takes things to their logical (if absurd) conclusion. It probably strikes him as hypocritical that you equate abortion with murder but scoff at any punishment for the murderer. And he is completely correct on that score. It is just one truthful elephant in the room that should never, ever be mentioned. Apparently, nobody told Trump.
More is at play here than Trumpâs abortion gaffe. How does a potential Trump Presidency team handle his freedom to make policy statements in less than controlled situations? Many Presidential pontifications are not scripted events such as addresses to groups, the U.N., State of the Unions, etc. Trump is a loose cannon, with very little deep knowledge of world affairs and scant demonstrated desire to master it, let alone try. You canât spend four years hiding him from the public, muzzling him, admonishing him to shut the hell up. Yet he assuredly will step in some shit every time heâs without a script. So, what will happen is in order to avoid public perception every damned thing out of his mouth will soon be severely modified, walked back, refuted or subject to claims 300 million people didnât hear what plainly just came out of his mouth, his advisers will have to pick and choose various idiocies to stand behind. He said it, now we have to find a way to institute this crap. Heâs the President. Some of what he says has to stick, or the citizens will tune all of it out. âNo more toaster ovens from China!!!â he will bellow, and thatâll be it for toaster ovens from China. Itâs preferable to his suggestion we give surface to air missiles to Fiji we guess, so we pick toaster ovens. Four long years of every day defaulting to the least worst option of what Donnie rambled on about the day before.
And he sure as hell wasnât going to figure it out for himself.
There is a large herd of such elephants, and a Trump administration would be ground into the jungle floor by them due to his penchant for wanting to have an âElephant of the Dayâ announcement from the Oval Office.
Truth hurts.
Cruz is in the same boat as Trump is when it comes to executing the doctors that actually provide abortions!
âNo pro-lifer would ever want to punish a woman who has chosen abortion. This is against the very nature of what we are about.â
Thatâs a lot of horse hooey. How many times have I heard pro-lifers (usually from a pulpit) screaming for the blood of both abortion seekers and abortion providers? Uncountable times.
I actually feel sorry for Tramp in this instance. A news guy asked him a hypothetical question to which the logical answer is that POTUS must enforce the law.
However, while women are polarized on the abortion issue, they have no division regarding their sympathy for the mother, and agree virtually 100%, and illogically, that the women should NOT be punished for breaking the law.
Of course, that would argue that the hypothetical law is unjust and would/should never be enacted, but women are polarized on enacting such a law.
So, Iâm sympathetic to Tramp because he got sucked into the absurdity of the Right to Life position
Iâm actually very impressed that Trump has been running for office for 9 months and hasnât boned up on anything. Not domestic policy, foreign policy, abortion politics, nothing. Itâs actually pretty amazing that heâs gone so far without advisors or learning anything.
Yes, but that is Trumpâs M.O. He says the things that the establishment GOP believes but doesnât dare to say out loud for fear of alienating the vast majority of American voters.Thatâs why he appeals to the people he does. Heâs not appealing to the establishment pro-fetus crowd, heâs appealing to the people who want to bomb abortion clinics, murder abortion providers, or just go shoot up a Planned Parenthood clinic to âsave the babiesâ.
Itâs like his anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim, pro-violence bluster. The establishment GOP (those who have expectations of being elected to office) may think these things but they donât say them out loud, relying instead on dog whistle euphemisms that convey these thoughts subliminally. Trump is after the people who want to put these people in camps, to deport them in cattle cars, and to get in a few whacks at them on the way.
The scariest people in America are the ones who say âTrump says exactly what Iâm thinkingâ. This should be an urgent warning sign, like a persistent cough or a lump in your breast. Trump should come with a required warning label:
Warning: If you find Trump says what you are thinking, seek immediate medical help. You have sociopathic tendencies that may cause you to harm yourself or others.
Such a delicious issue to ask all the other GOP candidates about. Whatever they say, they are going to lose votes.
This isnât really a Trump problem, the real problem is the incoherence of the Republican platform. Trump is merely demonstrating that there is a problem.
Its like voter-ID. Everyone with a brain knows that the real purpose is to stop âthe wrong peopleâ getting to the polls. The long lines in Democratic precincts isnât a mistake, that was the intended outcome. But only the stupidest Republicans ever state that openly.
For all his faults, Trump is no worse than any other Republican party politician and he is at least open in his hatred, bigotry and ignorance.
