Discussion: How Trump Is Transforming The Mueller Report Into Re-Election Campaign Ammo

Heck of a job there Mueller, way to drag your own name through manure.

If we are in a recession next year all of this won’t mean anything.

Trump is not clean and the SDNY and NYS Attorney general will have their say.

They always overplay their hand. Always.

Barr is the culprit and that is where the focus should be. He grossly mischaracterized the Report, which is unfavorable to Trump.

No one buries a report that is favorable to him, which exonerates him. No one relies on a hastily written summary in which practically no complete sentences from the actual Report were included.

Trump found the man he needed, hired him as A.D., and then instructed him to provide a rendition of whatever was in the Actual Report to be in a summary highly favorable to Trump. Take the worst prison and there will be a shyster available to turn that prison into Club Med.

This does not dismay me. The Report will come out and Trump and Barr will be in a far worse position than before the Report was written. There are three things which dismay people needlessly.

(1) They are concerned that the Report will not be released to the public

(2) They are concerned that the Report will be favorable to Trump

(3) They are concerned that people’s minds will be made up by Barr’s bogus summary.

W/r/t (1) The Report will be released probably by a leak…

W/r/t (2) See the top of this post

W/r/t (3) We have months before the 2020 campaign begins in earnest. Trump The Blowhard is the best there is at lying and he is the most obnoxious individual in American Political History. People will come around.

This is overplaying the hand. If you track polling in Trump’s first 2 years, his lowest numbers have often coincided with bad #trumprussia news and especially so when combined with another matter (e.g., ACA repeal, Puerto Rico, a bad monthly Econ report, poor foreign policy performance). That movement comes mainly from white folks who might otherwise be persuadable for him. Even many who don’t find Trump abhorrent do not believe he has clean hands on Russia.

Like the Bush years, people were willing to go along with Bush’s war as long as it produced results and didn’t impede life back home. But when those 2 things didn’t materialize, he fell hard. Similarly, Trump lost the House in part because of the Mueller Investigation. People saw a credible investigation exposing corrupt and criminal relationships among his circle and they saw policies like the tax law/ACA repeal/tariffs/general attitude on race that didn’t benefit them. If Trump goes down this rabbit hole, he’ll lose a lot of voters, especially given the inverted yield curve and other signs which point to a slowing economy. Additionally, keeping the report away from Congress proves to Dem voters and Indies that he is in fact guilty. It fuels the fire. That said, it is vitally important to not let Trump get away with this. The report must be released to Congress. Like the government shutdown he has to be forced to abide by the constitutional processes, even if it results in a decision by Congress not to impeach. That’s vitally important for the health of our Democracy and to destroy the myth that Trump is Houdini like or teflon in the political sphere.

Yea why wouldn’t he. The Dems stood around waiting for some ‘Meuller Report Savior’ and allowed Trump to get a media win by controlling his own narrative.

“Release the report” needs to be on the lips of every Democratic pundit, candidate, etc., before they answer one question. Just like “no collusion.” Three words. Not hard.

Bye bye 2020.

The election is not next month- A lot will change good and bad.

There is no evidence what so ever that any republican voter that voted for Trump the first time won’t in the end just vote for him again. ‘Never Trumps’ didn’t materialize and the ‘Finally turned off by Trump’ voter is a myth the Dems need to toss into the pile of false beliefs you should never rely on.

The President of the United States is plausibly suspected of conspiring with Russia to win the election and the investigation of that matter takes 22 months to conclude the conspiracy cannot be established. The investigation cannot exonerate the President of obstructing justice and leaves the decision of whether to charge the President with obstruction to an Attorney General chosen by the President. That’s something to crow about in the upcoming election?

The GOP overreaches. When you are corrupt and appeal to the basest of instincts, you overreach. What amazes me is when the overreach makes us get into the doomsdaying, glooming and handwringing.

Trumpism is not sustainable. We have the means to compel the release of that Report. If, for example, there was the same type of anger and resolve which people showed after the 2016 election, that–coupled with aggressive actions by the House, would compel the Report to be leaked**. And it could also be leaked at some point. The argument that Trump always makes for himself is that as long as he is POTUS he has tools (and fools) he can use.

A true Dictator in the Making. And handwringing never toppled one.

** We had contingency groups all across the country poised to take action and protest if Mueller got fired. NOW, Mueller has been blindsided by this Fat Fuck Barr. And I see nothing here about a similar action on the Release of The Mueller Report. WTF??!!

Silly comparison maybe, but this reminds me of something that I heard about The Apprentice (a show that I am happy to say that I never watched). When filming an episode and after Trump “fired” a contestant, the director, editors and producers would need to go back and re-edit and spin the entire episode to make it look like the person that Trump “fired” was indeed the person that should have been fired.

Folks,

For a guy who cheats at everything, especially to save face, how was any of this a surprise?

Trump is his own worse enemy. He can’ stop bragging or crying how he was wronged.when over people around him have plead guilty or been found guilty

People believed Bill Cosby until the numbers became too big to ignore.

People don’t believe Trump anymore He may still have his MAGA crowd, but they are not enough to get him re-elected.

Congress needs to keep the oversight going in plain view of America so everyone can continue to see the data in everyone’s own words…on live tv…not on Hannity’s handjob/recap show or a tweet.

Nothing has changed as Trump won’t be able to control himself.

The WSJ reports this: Trump ‘More Than Happy’ for Release of Full Mueller Report, White House Says.

Great! We’re all on the same page. Undoubtedly he has not read it.

Is anyone SURPRISED??? Donnie gamed the system from the get go. He lied and smirked and belittled and demeaned so no matter WHAT the outcome, somebody other than him was to blame. The sick sad thing is that the Republicans went right along with it to let Donnie slide…including Mueller. FK THE COUNTRY! It’s all about them.

Suppose he gamed the system and got Barr to write a false “favorable” summary on a Bad-For-Trump Mueller Report?

And the Public found out?

Enjoy your high water mark, Traitor Tot. You’re still under 50 percent and always will be. More than 50 percent are firmly against reelection. And there is so much more corruption to investigate. Muller farmed out a lot of this to SDNY. You’ll still regret the day you rode down that golden escalator to shit on brown people. For the rest of us it’s going to be a long two years. Remember to hydrate.
