Discussion for article #231744

I do believe the commenting is complete

A fitting tribute would be for every newspaper in the world to publish the Hebdo cartoon in question.

Religion is an STD

A Sect-ually Transmitted Disease.

Apologies to all who have read my sentiment.

These cartoons are unbelievably awesome and should go completely viral.
Hat tip to TPM for compiling them.

“The Zealot may be outwardly motivated by the anticipation of a great reward at the other end - wealth, fame, eternal salvation - but the real recompense is probably the obsession itself. Ambiguity vanishes from the fanatic’s world view; a narcissistic sense of self-assurance displaces all doubt. A delicious rage quickens his pulse, fueled by the sins and shortcomings of lesser mortals, who are soiling the world wherever he looks. His perspective narrows until the last remnants of proportion are shed from his life. Through immoderation he experiences something akin to rapture.”

2nd to last cartoon, “this is not a religion;” clearly this cartoonist has never visited the U.S.

Bitter sweet. Beautiful. Magnifique!

The pen is mightier than the sword.

“My god of love and peace is so awesome that if you make fun of my religion, I will kill you.” Or something like that…

Heh. Though on the chance any readers don’t know the source:

Every one of these is making me simultaneously laugh and cry; brilliant, every one. Many thanks, Catherine/TPM, for compiling them.

One of the most powerful pieces I’ve seen in a long time. Could only have been improved by providing translations.

Je ne parle pas bien Francais - but these are VERY powerful … even if you don’t speak French.
