With the experience of having run email systems myself at several points over the years, ranging in size from small businesses to thousands of users, and knowing how much stuff gets deleted routinely, even automatically, on any given day, and also understanding a bit about what the statistics are for incoming messages, I’ve always wondered … just how many of those chimerical 30,000 messages were SPAM ??

@williamv is right to emphasize the irreversible. While @outis (“That may depend on an outcome not yet determined.”) and other like-minded repliers provide a longer term view of the penalties that could fall with varying degrees of harshness on the perps, there can be little question that damage ranging from long-lasting to permanent has already been done, with clear intent. And the fight is barely engaged.

There’s absolutely no way, says Gene Rossi, a former federal prosecutor, on with Melber, that Trump didn’t know about the emails when he said in a campaign appearance that “probably” on Monday, things about the Clintons were going to come out.
This was going to be in a major speech (after the Trump Tower meeting).
Monday never came.

How permanent depends on the Democrats. I for one am not willing to wait 30 years for these people to retire/die off. The Dems could (1) pack Supreme Court (2) ignore the Supreme Court’s decisions or (3) cripple the Supreme Court. All of these things have been done in the past. The Supreme Court has been illegitimate since Bush v. Gore. It is time for the Dems to act accordingly.

Hey eggrollian, blogamator and redemption song. I don’t know willamv or his politics, but I didn’t read his post as a legitimization or valorization of what Trump et al have accomplished in the last two years. Regardless of whether he is a gloating conservative or a disgruntled liberal is not too important, though. He does point out correctly that while he and his administration have taken a beating from the domestic media and the international community, they have gotten major pieces of their agenda implemented.
However your counterarguments are based on what is moral or immoral, what is right or wrong. Whether Trump should or should not have done what he’s done, and whether his actions were legitimate or corrupt doesn’t change the fact that we to change things quick, not fall back on saying Trump has been unfair.

In case it needs clarifying, the original October Surprise refers to allegations that the Reagan campaign in 1980, in fear of an October release of the American hostages held by Iran, which would have greatly increased President Carter’s chances of re-election in November, secretly made a deal with the Iranian government to delay release of the hostages until after the presidential inauguration in January.
Although this was investigated by Congress in the years immediately after and set aside as not having enough documentary evidence, there are many credible experts and involved figures who have corroborated the allegations in various ways.
