Discussion for article #238357
We’ve got Trump bashing Latinos, Santorum bashing gays and the whole party dumping on women and blacks. If only one of them would attack the KKK they’d have no base left.
It’s interesting that of the five candidates distancing themselves from Trump, only 2 have a real shot at making it to the debate stage. Of the nine either embracing or trying to have it both ways, only 2 are unlikely to make it to the debate stage. I’d also bet that either shortly before or during the first debate, Paul, Rubio, Huckabee, and Santorum will move from “trying to have it both ways” to “embrace”. There you have it, folks…Today’s Republican Party: Where Hate Wins.
It scares me witless to think that this is the best of the GOPTP and that if Democrats and Progressives continue to sit on their collective “a$$e$” and not start fighting loud and long (you know like Sanders and Warren) one of them could be president.
Hi Catherine.
If any more Repubs enter the race, Josh will have to start paying you overtime.
I’m waiting for the first republican candidate to say…
“I’m Donald Trump, without all the baggage”
The so-called lack of border security is a red herring:
from that report: “Many of these same “border security first” proponents argued four years ago that we could only implement reforms to our immigration laws after specific enforcement benchmarks were met. The 2007 reform legislation that contained the benchmarks failed in the Senate, but we demonstrate below that over the last four years the bill’s high goalposts were reached and exceeded.”
Face it. Trump has tapped the Zeitgeist of the Republican Party: RACISM.
Right now, it is “fashionable” to bash BROWN PEOPLE.
In 6 months they will be back to “Willie Horton” race-baiting to whip up the Blue Hairs and Knuckle-Draggers who now make up the BASE of their party.
It’s ALL THEY HAVE LEFT.
Economy: Improving daily.
Foreign Affairs: Being Managed (without MUCH bombing, just a bit, but with Diplomacy.)
Culture Wars: Face it. It’s over. Gays are no longer “frightening” to people. The Abortion Issue is only an “issue” to the 10% of the American Taliban who will already vote Republican. That dog won’t hunt in a Presidential Election Cycle. Even the Pope is saying: “Tone it down already.”
