Discussion: How Seriously Should We Have Taken The GOP's Latest O'Care Repeal Revival?

On Monday, a handful of House Republicans – encouraged by meetings with the White House – were singing a song of Easter Hallelujah, claiming that the GOP health care bill that two weeks ago had been declared dead was ready to be revived.

Now, that is some nice writing, right there ! Well done, Tierney !

“Members are coming to the realization that it’s difficult to get a wide group of conservatives around a health care reform,” House GOP deputy whip, Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), told reporters Wednesday.

Why don’t they just release the secret superior plan they have been sitting on and voting on for seven years?

If I’d been laundering money with former Soviet states, I would want everybody to take the Obamacare repeal very seriously. Now leave me alone so I can get some of that sweet guanxi from my bro Xi here.

Making fun of import cars as unreliable is a joke about 50 years out of date. And shouldn’t republicans be buying American for their Trump era analogies?

Collins accused the Freedom Caucus Wednesday of “playing Lucy with the football” and said they were “less than genuine in trying to get to yes.”

The very definition of the Freedom Caucus.

How long is the Easter recess? If any of these mouthy Republican Representatives actually go home and meet their constituents, it will be ugly-----

If there’s one thing Collins knows, it’s “playing Lucy with the football”.

Buying American is taboo for Republicans because it would support the dreaded labor unions. Their brains are impeded with Stop, Do Not Enter, and Right Turn Only traffic signs.

I love how they keep saying their constituents are suffering under ACA, meanwhile most of America wants it kept and fixed, not repealed and replaced

It has been suggested recently that ODS (Obama Derangement Syndrome), once thought to be an acute condition, may become chronic in certain sufferers. There have been reports of a significant cluster of chronic cases in the Washington, DC area.

I expect the town halls held during this time to be just as boisterous. In addition to this nonsense of repeal and replace (because that worked so well the last time), I can see folks starting to demand those hearings on the Russian connection. It’s gonna be great!

Yep. Their “Germany-Envy” for manufacturing trade surpluses is also at odds with strong unions and regulation. Hard to be Germany-ish and hate so hard on workers and collective barganing.

The GOPers really have to work to have their Libertarian/Christian/Free Market/Border-Adjustment Freedom™ (NOW with sketchy Healthcare!)

Your first mistake? Thinking they actually care about what their constituents or the American people want or even need.

It’s either cognitive dissonance or an example of how the ability to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.

Oh, I never thought they cared. It’s just hilarious/annoying how they keep beating that “my poor suffering constituents” drum when the statistics show overwhelming support for keeping and fixing ACA instead of Repeal & Replace.

They’re so wrapped up in the 8 year mentality of stopping Obama and undoing everything he did, that they can’t see reality…of course they probably can and just refuse to accept it, believing they can convince their voters they know best.

Let’s face it, at this point Republicans just want to kill Medicaid and give the money to their rich patrons. Everything else is cover. Sadly when they start messing with Obamacare they run into the same problems the Heritage Foundation ran into when they first drafted it. The same problems that Romney ran into as well as Hillary and Obama. Obamacare is a Republican Rube Goldberg plan held together by bailing wire and spit. Screw with it one place and you create hardship somewhere else.

As long as we remain engaged they aren’t going to have the political will to repeal and replace it, but the moment America’s back it turned Ryan and his band of thieves is going to take their crack at destroying healthcare in America. They just have to get rid of what they perceive is the excess population.

Exactly. I wonder what our neighbors are driving these days. They seem pretty happy with what they’ve got…

I worry about the people out in Trump country who want the “choice” NOT to have health insurance. They oppose the mandate and would be happy to have junk insurance or none at all. I am not sure how clearly the “moderates” see the importance of the mandate and the essential health benefits to making any insurance based plan work.
