Whatever word he used instead of ponies was great too, I just can’t remember what it was. I wish I would have saved it, I meant to.
Sure things to bet on Part 1
Bullshit. Putting things off by a few weeks is hardly a cave, nor a retreat. This move saves a lot of Dems in the next election. Give this time, you holier than thou, get what you want now, you know how to do it best Sanders wing!
I turned them off 8 years ago.
Rachel is still good, she’s the only one I really follow. She keeps her eye on the ball and does more reporting on the actions and not the distractions.
Oh I did a long time ago
Time that can be utilized doing something more productive like watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune which are more informative without the HA!
Our Host had a thing out last night about the teen-ager arrested for threatening to gun down “fake news” reporters at CNN. Reminded me of the following:
[Theodore Schleifer, CNN December 21, 2015] Trump – who frequently lambasts the media as “scum” or “horrible” – reassured reporters at rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Monday that he had no desire to execute the press who cover him. “I hate some of these people, I hate 'em,” Trump told the crowd. “I would never kill them. I would never do that.” Then he decided to reconsider. “Uh, let’s see, uh?” he said aloud, his voice rising. “No, I would never do that.”
How … clever.
I disagree. CHIP was funded for six years, and this deal expires in three weeks. That will be the time to hold out for the Dreamers.
Yes, Josh Marshall needs to reign in these writers. This approach is not the type of thoughtful analysis we depend on TPM to provide.
Did McConnell actually say this?
I think I did watch her show past 2010 for awhile but then young grandkids started coming along in 2011.

Yes, and I asked that person if Pelosi, Clyburn, et al., who also criticized this “deal,” were among those “purity ponies.”
There’s a different dynamic and different considerations in the Senate and the House. I didn’t hear many Democratic Senators criticizing the votes (other than a few in safe states or no election this year). However, all Democrats in the Senate and the House want the same thing and the same best result here - they all want to protect the DREAMers - although they may need to take different paths and approaches to get there.
I’m not dissatisfied with the outcome, but what I fear is the nations’ short term memory loss. How many other outrageous things will Trump & Co. do during those three weeks? We need to keep McConnell’s promises front and center, along with all the times Trump has changed his tune. We can’t have a functioning government if we keep replaying Charlie Brown and Lucy with the football.
From Daily Beast:
In a short address from the Senate floor just after 9 p.m. on Sunday, McConnell said “it would be my intention to proceed on legislation that would address DACA [Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals], border security, and related issues”
These re-makes are amusing. I understand you do some of them yourself.
It’s too bad today’s Republicans have never read the earlier Hobbes.
Or perhaps they have, and they actually want a “war of all against all.”
This is an AP story. I don’t think they’re allowed to do anything but “Democrats in Disarray” and the occasional “This is good for McCain.”
Exactly - It’s not a cave unless the budget passes in three weeks without a fix for DACA. If you fart in a room, your dog will smell it for three weeks. How short term has our thinking become? I don’t think Schumer got played. Quite the opposite.
Perhaps one ought to forego “cable news” entirely unless there’s an interview with someone you might not otherwise talk to?
Instead of blaming Schumer, why not take aim at those red state senators…and find a person who can sell the Dem agenda to the blockhead republicans in their districts?
“Take aim”? One of those “red-state senators” was Doug Jones in Alabama, whose election victory over Roy Moore some of us are still savoring.
That’ll do it!
Agreed.
