What’s this, a Democrat with a spine and political competence? Someone get me Lindsey’s fainting couch, I think I’ve caught the vapors!!!
“dismissing breathless reports of her inevitable demise,”
AhemHuffpost.
She’s gonna be the Dotard’s worst nightmare.
Blue wave!!!
According to a Thursday Washington Post report, Pelosi dealt with the rebellion in her usual way: dismissing breathless reports of her inevitable demise, and approaching the disgruntled members one by one to hear them out and strike a compromise.
She is an amazing leader. Everything Donald Trump claims to be, but isn’t. She kept her Speakership, not with puerile insults and threats, but with calmness, thoughtfulness, and a skilled assessment of her individual caucus members needs and wants. I am thoroughly impressed.
As a strategic thinker, we’re in good hands and Trump is in trouble.
I think she’s the best choice, especially if she works to promote the succession of new progressive blood into the House. Oh, and that this time, impeachment is ON the table.
It’s a woman who’s gonna be all up in his grill 24/7, and he can’t fire her. Haha.
Another poor headline
How did she keep her head down? She was in the news for days. She didn’t shy away from public comments. She knows what she is doing.
Yep. And she’s a gazillion times smarter and politically savvy.
The remnants of the Blue Dogs and the wannabes didn’t stand a chance against Pelosi and I suspect most of them knew it. This was mostly about leverage although, in the case of wannabes like Tim Ryan and Seth Moulton, there was probably ego and false hopes involved as well.
I have made this observation before and will undoubtedly make it again… "The position of Speaker of The House is a job that requires two outcomes.
- Get the legislation put forward by the majority party passed through the House.
- Mentor younger would-be leaders who will someday be in a position to be Speaker.
That is it, nothing more.
There has been NO Speaker in memory that has been more effective than Pelosi in passing legislation. The jury is still out on her preparation for her succession but now is not the time to test the skills of a new leader when Pelosi is still in a position to lead the House of Representatives.
And she’s third in line to take over the White House.
Sleep tight, conservatives.

She wins by buying votes with bribes campaign contributions that she has collected from her oligarch friends. She knows how to buy her friends and punish her enemies.
This is what “political savvy” is in America’s Oligarchy. Follow the money.
No democracy, no justice.
As she knows that this is almost certainly her last term as Speaker, Pelosi will do whatever she can to cement her legacy. Watch out, Donald!
Actually, in reality, raising lots of money is the most important.
Isn’t Pelosi the one who counseled the Democrats running for Congress to run on a positive agenda and not run against Trump? I believe that she argued that Trump would inflict enough damage on himself that Democrats running on health care, infrastructure, etc. would look like real statesmen. That worked out pretty well, too.
Pelosi knows everyone has a price so she just have to just out what her opponents are
Do you have the least clue how governing works? Trade offs, compromise, deal making are all part of the process. She raised nearly $100 million to elect Democrats - and they got elected. I think Citizens United needs to be over, but until it is, Republicans and their owners will be exploiting it. Purity thinking lost the White House two years ago, ‘Political savvy’ won the House this year.
A lot of this is just posturing, although the media would rather cover this with their usual “Dems in disarry” (ignoring or downgrading the conflict within the GOP caucus). The real issue here is succession planning—I doubt that anyone wants an old hack like Steny Hoyer as the next speaker and Pelosi needs to begin building a real path for that.
