It will be great to see Obama standing next to the Torturer-in-Chief and War Criminal George Bush to sing the praises of a Republican who fought against virtually everything that the Democrats have ever stood for.
But “loving your country” and being “patriotic” apparently forgives all “mistakes”, even if those mistakes include lying the country into war, causing the untold death and misery of millions of people, and wasting a trillion dollars and thousands of American soldiers lives.
Just a little mistake, I guess. Oops! But what a patriot!

What this funeral arrangement means is that McCain gets to have a statement on where we are at, and what we’ve become as a country. This is a chance for a Democratic President and a Never Trumper President to talk about our country, our values, and our goals.
And seriously Trump can’t do public speaking. He has no inside voice that inspire, impassion, or speak to our collective better angels. Trump can only deride, divide, and dismiss.

If I may repeat myself, since there’s a lot of that going around, you won’t win a lot of followers by giving people a hard time about Obama because he stands next to someone you disapprove of and I disapprove of. Obama stood next to all sorts of different people during his career and will likely continue so to do. Perhaps you attach too much significance to people standing next to other people. It doesn’t mean total approval to me.

The bush and obama years had odd coincidences among the main names, maybe every era does.
Obama was unbelievably blessed in his national races (remember when Obama’s senate opponent dropped out after it was revealed that he had dragged his ex-wife to sex clubs, and then Alan Keyes replaced the Repbiclian)
McCain losing to 2 Presidents in a row.
Hillary also losing to 2 Presidents in a row. both her races featured her winning the most most votes but losing the delegate count/electoral college.
And yes, it it will be awesome watching an Obama speech.

It doesn’t entirely excuse his behavior, but McCain’s numbers within the party were abysmal. Anyone can see the only agent of change is either moving the needle on the GOP or getting them out of office. Going at Trump on the floor of the Senate likely doesn’t do either of these.

He isn’t just standing next to him. He is going to share the podium with him, and give a speech to honor a war-mongering Republican who spent his career fighting against just about everything the Democrats have ever stood for.
And just in time for the mid-term elections.
George W. Bush should go down in history as perhaps the worst President ever, and maybe he will, despite the Democrats joining the Republicans’ attempt to rehabilitate his horrible legacy.
Apparently “loving his country” is a sufficient excuse for killing its citizens by the thousands.

McCain’s selection was clearly symbolic rather than personal. By selecting men with whom he was not close and by whom he had been defeated in his quest for the White House, he was making a resounding statement about decency, civility and the important of a strong and healthy bipartisan democracy.
Um, no. He’s making a statement that he’s willing to use anybody and everybody in order to be a vile, vindictive, petulant little prick, even in death. Why Liberals and Democrats still swoon over John “Lucy and the Football” McCain is beyond me…
