And the transfer of wealth from taxpayers to the 1% continues.
Accelerates actually.
One more way that unprecedented Republican obstructionism is paying off for them.
My father is a sane conservative who liked Obama, hates the tea party and Wall Street run amuck. He voted for Trump because Washington is broken and something needs to change. He has no confidence in Trump other than his ability to shake things up and thinks that the next person will have to fix what Trump did. But Washington is broken and something needs to change.
He is one of many people who would have probably voted for Sanders over Trump had Sanders been the nominee. There were definitely enough of them to swing the election the other way.
Republicans would have changed the rules once they had power anyway. Look no further than North Carolina.
The power structure will change, as it tends to do. In the meantime there will be a lot of damage. We’d better brace ourselves
I love how Sanders fanbois continually neglect the possibility that some people who voted for Hillary might not have gone and voted for the finger pointing bro.
Meh. The problem here is/will be Republicans who enable Pres. Trump by voting to confirm unqualified nominees, not the fact that there can’t be a filibuster. Even with this result, I still think it’s correct that a President should presumptively get his/her choice of Cabinet and that the Senate should at least give them an up-or-down vote, which means that a majority of Senators ought to be enough to confirm.
The fact that these nominees aren’t qualified and go against that presumption just means that Senators, including those in the majority, ought to vote to withhold the Senate’s consent to their nomination. But if a majority isn’t willing to do that — indeed, if the Republican Conference votes in near-lockstep to support them, as would be necessary to confirm on a party-line vote — then Democrats’ job is to make sure the Republican Party as a whole owns them, and whatever scandals, incompetence, neglect, etc. comes from that.
No. He thought Sanders was a radical kook. He had zero use for Bernie in the slightest. But thanks for playing.
still thinking the stealing of votes that elect these republicans is not the main issue?
but…lets face it…even had the rule not been changed…no more than one pick would have blocked…because republicans always! stick together and dems of course DO NOT.
maybe…mccain…will be seeking some revenge…and the fuhrers relationship with Putin might sway the likes of a lindsey…but i doubt it.
i was re-watching George Carlin last night…the part of his show where he talks about how " fucking stupid the american people are".
geez…i Really miss George Carlin.
We still have deluded Berniebots who refuse to accept that Sanders would have been slaughtered by the GOP!
I can’t follow his logic. That’s like saying I think our government is run by crooks and then vote for Bernie Madoff to run things to shake things up. All of Trump’s lies, projections, and self dealing were evident to any “sane” person well before the election.
Here is how a wealthy, bully minority RULES a struggling, divided electorate. They change the very rules they govern by to protect their greedy grasping. And Trump’s the greediest of them all, he simply reeks of self-interest, right down to competing with his own family for camera attention.
I had to admit recently that Trump really IS the 21st Century Republican Party. He’s not an abberation at all, he has become them and vice versa. Trump is everything Republicans have come to represent, in every sense of the words.
And now they arrogantly reap their greedy harvest of our precious commonwealth, again and again pushing our exconomy to the brink of disaster with their speculation and profitable but potentially disastrous volatility.
if we don’t find a way to protect our commonwealth from these greedy, persistent failures, they wil divide us even further, and drive the middle-class out of existence, they set the stage for future failure that we should have learned long ago would repeat itself if we allow greed to rule our economy. ,
We are all witnesses to the process. Never has the term “slow-motion trainwreck” been more appropriate. We watched it unfold here in Kansas in the confounding months following Brownback’s 2010 win, and it is still underway, we were and are still witnesses to that, most of us are actually IN the crash, just waiting to see how hard we all hit bottom,
Republicans won’t play fair because their agenda is ownership, not fellowship.
There-in lies the lie,
It’s like remodeling your house by burning it down.
Only Trump’s Trolls talk Hillary/Bernie right now,
Every conversation that fails to stay on the “Trump” topic should be suspect
Here’s a thought. Obviously, there’s some ridiculous minimum wage that’s clearly way too much and would obviously break the economy. Maybe it’s $25 an hour. Everyone agrees $50 would do it. That’s not reasoning, it’s making up nonsense and calling it an argument. I’d love to see the federal government err on the side of being too liberal, just once in my life to see what it even looks like.
Well what if there’s also some unprecedented tipping point of absurd, obscene, patently ridiculous giveaways to the rich, beyond which some of it finally starts trickling down. If such a thing exists, this crew should be finding it fairly quickly.
The filibuster ceased to be an effective tool the day that the republican party decided to conduct scorched-earth tactics.
When one side decides that their only negotiating tactic is “My way or the highway”, the only ones harmed are the Democrats who naively continued to believe in parliamentary procedure.
We lost far more by adhering to the filibuster for years after the republicans had become the despicable, evil and stupid idiots they are today.
It’s like watching kids choosing players for a sandlot baseball game. The selection is from the kids who show up to play … the kids from the neighborhood … the kids whose names you know.
People voted for these folks and they are now totally in charge and they (with few exceptions) don’t appear to have a clue why they are there except that they are in charge and are gonna’ run this government. It might be humorous to watch these folks if not for the fact that they are going to destroy our way of life. I’m not really being sarcastic … I believe it.
Watchin’ the MSNBC second stringers on the teevee yesterday and good lord no wonder people were confused about reality. To watch them ask D guests how they are going to stop the R’s from destroying Obamas legacy. To watch them showcase Spicer pivot from a question about Russian interference in our election process to Hillary’s interference … WHAT ???
The saddest thing of all is to watch all the little hand puppets on all “the shows” appearing to wait on Rump’s comments to determine what is real. That is nonsense and they should all be ashamed at their own ignorance and incompetence. If they cannot or will not acknowledge reality or obvious fact what is the value of any it ???
Is it all only about fillin’ time and makin’ money …??? Yeah !!! To the streets … pitchforks and torches !!!
That’s because there is none. Any “sane conservative” who voted for Trump clearly isn’t either of those two things.
Please, Fantasy Voting is not helpful. Sanders would have been crushed, quite likely.
