Discussion for article #225492
Witnessing an execution is something you simply could not pay me enough to view. Its a barbaric practice, but having to sit there and watch things like this is just a whole other level of ghoulishness
And to think states decided that firing squads and hanging were too brutal.
GOP Governors.
Here’s what I don’t get: What kind of horrible people are willing to carry out such activities?
On another note: Over at CNN’s Website yesterday, commenters were complaining that Wood didn’t suffer enough.
“…Its a barbaric practice…”____But not nearly as “barbaric” as the actual murder the individual being executed is guilty of committing.
After all:
- The individual being executed has had years to prepare. The victim(s), not so long.
- The individual being executed is having their life ended in the same manner as the animals we love and care about - ‘put to sleep’. The victims, were either shot, stabbed, beaten, burned,…or any combination of those, not to mention raped in many cases involving female victims
There it is…the implicit argument that capital punishment serves as some sort of deterrent.
It doesn’t.
It does not take an hour and a half to put down an animal.
