@realDonaldTrump Not easy to undo US-Australia relationship. I did it in less than two-weeks! Obama couldn’t in eight years! Sad!

Now if you will excuse me, President Trump asked me to write Baron’s book report.

And if you’re one of those refugees, you’re now terrified of being put in Trump’s hands. He’ll probably stick them in a camp and slowly deport every single one of them, trying to keep it under the radar.

Frankly, I’d applaud Turnbull if he responds with a very public, scathing letter reneging on the deal specifically because he doesn’t trust Trump, considers him a white nationalist loose cannon who has abandoned America’s values and refuses to subject the destitute, bereft, suffering refugee families and their children to Trump’s own brand of tyranny, after they risked all to escape tyranny in the first place. “I have decided to keep them, thank you, where I know they will be safe.” Nothing could be more of an insult to Trump and, if I don’t miss my guess, the cogs of America’s democracy are so broken that we’re going to need to rely in part on the feedback from the rest of the world to destroy President Bannon and his agenda.

Which would then be abbreviated to “Trump Wins! Radical Islamic terrorists to stay in Australia.”

Let’s stop accepting Trump’s word “deal” to describe every agreement, pact, treaty, accommodation, etc. A “deal” in Trump’s world is a free-standing zero-sum interaction in which the object is to win. That’s not how government and diplomacy work; in fact, viewing things through this lens will destroy government and diplomacy, where the parties interact with each other over and over and over a broad range of issues. Trump’s career has been making one deal, and moving on to the next after he’s won the last one, not caring about ever having to have a relationship again with the last loser. That’s why he’s run through a whole series of banks, who refuse to do business with him again. We can’t do that with other governments, as he’ll soon find out. Let’s hope that Rex Tillerson understands that diplomacy is not deal-making, because Trump sure doesn’t.

More brooms and shovels following the President, please, as everyone pretends this is normal.

And result in the fall of Turnbull’s government as the right wing in Oz makes hay on the increased influx of refugees.

While I admittedly frequently stoke my outrage by visiting Faux News, and sometimes complain about whether something will feed their narrative, I think we would all be well served by making a concerted effort to not give a fuck what they’re saying. Stay aware of it, know it, understand it so we can combat it? Yes. Care? Fuck no. They are going to lie their asses off no matter what.

Plus, I think it would be pretty hard for them to counter-narrative Australia’s PM telling POTUS that he can’t be trusted to treat refugees humanely because he is viewed as someone who has abandoned the values America holds dear. It would, quite simply, be humiliating for Trump no matter what the conservative propaganda machine churned out in response. And there would be little Trump could do about it except dig his hole deeper.

Also, it’s different than, for example, the shit that happened this week with a guy falsely claiming Trump killed his mom and the media then running with, ostensibly without verifying anything, and then getting called out on it later. THAT is the type of narrative Faux News should NOT be handed on a silver platter. To combat Trump’s and the conservative media’s war on the MSM as if it is the “opposition party”, the MSM is going to have to prove itself and start getting shit right at all times, which it hopefully will, in which case Trump and the conservative propaganda machine’s efforts to kill the MSM will have had the paradoxical effect of fixing it and making it stronger.

McCain made a call to Australia. This ought to go over well with the idiot.

So, is this how it’s going to be? Damage control every f*cking day?

McCain called the Australian PM to reassure him too. When are the Republicans going to get tired of cleaning up the messes DJT makes around the world?

You beat me to it. If I were Turnbull, I would specifically tell Ryan in the most public way possible, Australia now considers America an enemy. Unequivocally.

Damn shame he can’t.

jeffgee1 I’m assuming that 24/7 damage control will end when it becomes clear that it’s not really working.

Do these morons think that all the other world leaders are as stupid as they are? Do they think that foreign leaders can’t see who is in charge over here? A Republican is a Trump puppet and they lie to foreigners just as they lie to us.

Paul Ryan, your job is not to talk to foreign leaders, you’re not in the UN. Your job is to call the President and fix the problem at the source. You are either afraid of him or you agree with him. Which is it? We need to know.
