Discussion: House Poised To Pass Keystone XL Pipeline Bill As Senate Wrangles

Discussion for article #231826

I wish the White House would stop dancing around this issue with opaque statements that the pipeline authorization “prevents the thorough consideration of complex issues that could bear on U.S. national interests.” WTF does that mean?

Why not just veto the legislation and say, “This pipeline will create almost no jobs in the U.S., won’t bring any more gasoline or heating oil to U.S. consumers, and risks poisoning the water supply for a huge chunk of the upper midwest. It’s a lousy deal for Americans.” There are no “complex issues” here.

What a sterling GOPiggie’ start with their very, very…very predictable agenda: A fevered attempt to pay off Wall St. for its support ( Repugs’ had a slight misstep but they’re trying to correct it so their bankster owners can continue their robber baron ways with less scrutiny.); more futile attempts to destroy the ACA; five, countem’, five votes to hinder a woman’s right to control her own body and make it harder to find reproductive healthcare help; a mighty push for a sure-to-be-vetoed XL Pipeline, a dangerous boondoggle and lie which enriches a few corporations and endangers the nations largest aquifer and pushes dirty oil across this country to be exported to other countries; ratcheting up hate for immigrants with a push against fair immigration reform and a push for a series of punishments against undocumented workers and their families. And they’re just getting started. It all must be that “Kinder and Gentler” Republican Party and the more “Compassionate Conservatism” we’ve heard so much about, huh?
Really, it’s just SSDD in Republican Oppositeworld and Con Bizzaroland’!
