Tell me more about concern trolling, dear.
Al Gore diagnosed this over a decade ago (and it had already been malignant for 2-3 decades prior to that). That was his book, The Assault On Reason. He put way too much emphasis on recent (at the time) events, primarily the depredations of the Bush 43 regime, but still worth a read, and scary.
Judging from how they pushed bullshit, easily-debunked stories (no, he did not ever claim to have “invented the Internet”, and the guy who actually did “invent the Internet” not only said that, but gave Gore a ton of credit for providing the funding, resources and political support to make it happen) , yeah, they sure did.
That was more bothsiderist BS from TPM.
Hello, @nicole_lafond , the criticism wasn’t partisan. The criticism was entirely objective and a recognition of an appalling reality. The lack of any criticism coming from Republicans certainly was partisan, however. You’re welcome.
True story. I was at a funeral in March 2017 and there met up with an activist rabbi friend of mine. This was only a few days after the desecration of a Jewish cemetery in Pittsburgh, and what followed: A Muslim man (I believe it was one individual, though his community contacts were probably extensive) set up a fundraising campaign to rehabilitate the cemetery. They blew through their initial $20K fundraising goal in three hours. To date they have raised over $162,000.
I related this entire story to my friend, and he replied, “You know, if tRump doesn’t destroy this country, he might just make America great again.”
Leader Abrams is just amazing. I’ve heard her before, but she did a 1-hour interview and Q&A on a local radio program, City Arts and Lectures, which is very unfortunately not archived for public access. She “gets it” in so many ways, in so many layers. She’s a systems thinker, and has such a low level of ego-involvement – sure, she’s a politician, and that takes some level of ego, but she’s just so self-aware and knows how to manage the ego for good effect. To wit: part of her talk was about her recent campaign – only part of it was to win; the rest of it was, win or lose, to put systems in place that would benefit Democratic candidates, and POC candidates, from here on out in Georgia. She was, and is, about building political power for everyone. Just amazing.
Of course they’re trying to crucify her.
Yep. Came up on Maddow last night. @greysea
And as both she and Chris Hayes mentioned, we, the collective United States taxpayer, are, as of yesterday, the proud owners of a condo in Trump Tower Manhattan! w00t! (I believe it was Chris who noted that, unfortunately for us, that particular address has been experiencing a rather nasty slump in market value lately. Odd, too, what with Manhattan real estate and all. There must be some reason, but I can’t quite put my finger on it…)
Of course that “concern troll” “unicorn” thingy only gets trotted out… selectively.
You also might want to have a gander at that Assault on Reason book – because empty character assassination attempts are very much part of of that. Folks who uprate this shit without doing some goddamn homework might want to reconsider. @rollinnolan
That’s if the actual record matters any more. In the Age of Trump, it very well may not. God damn, this is bullshit. Straight outta the fucking Trump playbook.
