Discussion: House Passes $788 Billion Spending Bill For Military, Mexico Border Wall

So the money is needed to get Mexico to pay for the wall, right?

It’s just enough money for them to re-open the accounts and bribe their way through customs, then they’ll split the inheritance with us and give us a map to the rest of the buried treasure. Just make sure we include the account numbers for the treasury and our mother’s maiden name (it’s “England”).

That sounds about right.

Only $788 billion? What a bunch of weak-kneed lily-livers to not ask for over a trillion. Obviously they hate this country, I mean, how else are a bunch of already-wealthy defense contractors going to pay for their multiple estates and political payoffs?

We’ll call it… Ummm…

The House has passed a $788 billion spending bill … with a whopping budget increase for the Pentagon.

The Pentagon should be able to get along with just half of that amount, what with Chiselin’ Trump’s decision to ban all of the costly LGBTQ folks from the military.

If you step back and look at that amount of money, it’s easy to imagine how many things it could do to make the lives of Americans better. Just take half of it, spread it around the nation on infrastructure, modernization, fixing problems, health care, drug abuse treatment, schools…the military would be just fine with $400 billion, that’s still more than every other nation pays for their military. There’s a lot of waste in the military funding…we should be demanding a formal audit of the Defense Dept. to see how they spend the money, I suspect the waste by itself would cut at least 10% out of the budget. Cutting BS defense contract stuff would cut funding too. And these are the simple things, before we get into cutting programs that don’t work, restructuring them military to do what we need it to do today, increasing cooperation and cutting back overseas operations.

But, hey, why would we do all this instead of lining the pockets of defense industry corporations with corporate welfare? Corporations are people too after all, we wouldn’t want them to go hungry… :unamused:

This is the bill that got Trump to throw transgenders out of the military. The Freedom Caucus demanded it for their votes.

Yeah.

But is a tweet an order?

That means, conservatives, more government spending, more of which is paid by you. Your Congressmen are redefining right now whether or not you’ll be able to afford health insurance.

That’s what they consider victory.

No amount of military spending will make up for a president who blurts out our military secrets to our enemies.

Nothing keeps the oil flowing like war. No solar wind jets and tanks yet. And then there’s the segway hacking. Future wars will be interesting

Actually about 2-billion from taxpayers ( us ) will pay for opening Research & Development costs for the approx 5,000 TacoTrumpBowl wall-thru really-fast food locations planned.

Absolutely. But I think you have to be a member. to. receive. of. something. Dump. owns.

I thought the “Wall” was expected to turn a profit (just like the USPS)…kinda like a tollroad. Why is any funding required at all?

2 footnotes to the bill:

  1. This huge increase to military spending excludes the actual costs incurred in Iraq, Afghanistan, and S. Kore. Do 't worry: Wars will be funded by Bush style tax cuts for the Oligarchy class.

  2. The border Wall will be more beautiful
than the Berlin Wall (Iron Curtain) that Russia dismantled in 1989 after decades of being totally ineffective.
