Of all the things a House Oversight Committee could be over-sighting re this administration . . .

I agree. But it’s an easy, meaningless target, so it looks like they are doing something.

Don’t get Uncle Ben riled up he’ll cut ya…

Remind me, are they looking into Pruitt’s 24/7 security detail, the secure channel of communication with Big Oil he had installed in his office and his travel expenses? Are they looking into how much Ryan Zinke cost the D.C. and Federal Government by riding a horse into work his first day on the job? Or his travel and abuses of the lands entrusted to his agency?

The cluelessness is amazing. I am not ‘outraged’ by the building furniture because I work in a building where the furniture is periodically swapped out due to normal wear and tear. This ‘could’ be the case. The problem is the ‘dining room’ furniture for his personal use and the fact that it was picked out by his wife and neither one thought $31,000 was excessive.

I am no fan of Carson, but it is telling that such a letter to him was so quickly delivered, whereas Mnuchin and Zenke, and Pruitt and others are enjoying their feasts on the tax payers’ expense without constraints.

Reminiscent of the eighties when the first anti-hate crime bill was passed, and one of the first persons to be charged under that law was some African American in Michigan.

Baby steps

It would be sad if it turned out that this was in fact a nothingburger. To be eaten at the new dining table. (If the stuff he bought lasted another 40-50 years, that wouldn’t be so bad.)

I sort of agree with you on the quality part. Has anyone inquired if this dinning set is American made?
As for the $165,000 in “lounge” furniture how many pieces are they replacing?

Also, negro, so disposable.

Didn’t want to say that, but true.

The whole reason they put a neurosurgeon in charge of that department is because they had a black guy they owed a cabinet post to and in the white Republican mind–and I mean from the oligarchs to the country club lawyers and doctors, to the retirees and on down to the gun hoarding trailer dwellers–HUD is the Department of Negro Affairs. They have no idea what it really does.

Reports are that Mrs Candy Carson not only picked out furniture but had a “presence” around HUD. More nepotism hiring? OR if she has no job what is she doing there? Has Ben said to his staff “If you complain about my wife you are fired!” Did they get that table for the bridges of Madison county?

That table was for reading the Bridges of Madison County.
