Discussion: House Maj. Whip Sounds Death Knell, Doesn't Think Funding Bills Will Pass

I can’t disagree with Clyburn. Just temporarily opening the government will mean Trump will pull the same shit all over again if he doesn’t get his beaded border curtain. It’ll be shut down again, because he and the Grand Old Pearlclutchers (Lindsey Graham, Chairman Emeritus) are too butt-stupid to realize they will be hated even more by the American public, with the great possibility Trump and his Conservative Courtesans will have less popularity than toenail fungus - except on Rasmussen, of course, which will show they are slightly more popular than jock itch and used kitty litter.

But they will keep doing it because, to paraphrase the oft-quoted saw: ā€œPolitical stupidity cannot be failed! You can only fail political stupidity!ā€

I keep reading about the ā€˜Democratic bill’ in the Senate. Isn’t it the Senate bill, the one they passed unanimously last month? If so it should be referred to as such.

Looks like the White House/Trumps bet that the longer this goes on the more people will blame The Dems is totally shot. The longer this goes on the more people blame Trump/Repubs.

Eventually Trump will signal defeat although he will make McConnell take the fall, allow Senate Repubs to vote on a clean bill, which he will Veto and then tell Senate/House Repubs to over-ride, thus throwing them under the bus and he gets to play the victim. I did everything i could Ann! But, those cowardly Repubs in Congress caved!

At least that’s my best guess, it’s his only real saving grace at this point, IMO.

This is just another attempt by the Mainstream Media to present ā€œboth sidesā€. It is total bullshit that they refuse to report that a bill that was passed by UNANIMOUS (I think) Republican support in the Senate is no longer a good idea… since Limbaugh, Coulter, et al bashed it.

Hopefully the fact the the primary intent of the Dem bill is to reopen the government will keep the Trump/GOP poll numbers crashing.

Will he? How much is this personally affecting him? Beyond his polls and golfing excursions. A person with any sense of reason and good intent would never have gotten to the point we are today. For him, this is a show of force and face, that is all that matters. Mitch is the one that is most curious, holding the line. Why? It all boils down to him roadblocking everything. Has Mitch been coerced, compromised or is he on a mission? Wondering about the mission side, it comes off like they want to literally change the fabric of this nation over night.

They are trying to look studly tough by leaking yesterday that they are looking at impacts for March and April, infuriating all who read of it. Amateurs! (Edit Spelling)

If the bills do not pass it is McConnell’s fault.

Trump is about to break. He has been over a month without golf, be patient.

His morning outburst –
ā€œBUILD A WALL AND CRIME WILL FALL!ā€ (all caps in the original)

Oh crap, he’s resorting to poetry.

$10 million of wall for every $0.01 increase in the minimum wage. Need to drive a wedge between racists and American businessmen who like their cheap labor just fine.

There is no way trump will signal defeat…unless Putin tells him to do so. This is the Putin shutdown and trump shitstorm. Always has been and always will be.

Mitch is just scared of pissing off Trump. That’s it. That’s all it’s ever been. There’s no grand strategy, it’s all because Coulter and Limbaugh emasculated Trump and McConnell, being a gutless coward, doesn’t have the guts to stand against Trump when he’s having one of his tantrums.

Not sure if I can buy that he is afraid of Trump. The man is 76 years old, has a long history and is experienced. He will be 78 in 2020, unless his finances are so incredibly dependent on his salary and his wife’s at this point, he could care less about reelection. He could right this ship in a heart beat, be a hero and cow Trump into the ground just in asking uncomfortable questions. I can see tons of opportunity in this environment to make merry on Trump’s head. So Compromised, coerced or zealot for a cause, which is it?

Normal people with normal views do not act like this.

By signal defeat i don’t mean he’ll come out and say it verbally. Like i said he’ll throw Mitch and the Repubs in Congress under the boss publicly but, in private he’ll give Mitch the nod to go ahead with the vote.

But, i could totally be wrong and he’s going to keep punishing people because he just doesn’t care (he really doesn’t).

He’s been a coward all his life, his age doesn’t change that. This is nothing new for Mitch

McConnell is complicit via a combat of Russian money and kompromat.
